Or at least that's the scuttlebutt among local liberals.
They're saying March 9 on WAMO-AM.

Pratte4Life said:Part- I've seen WAMO-AM compete with WEAE for ratings in the past.
Now, I realize that's less than 2.0.
But I don't think we can dismiss WEAE has influence in the local sports scene.
Pratte4Life said:As such, could WAMO-AM have influence in local political circles?
Pratte4Life said:Part- Much like WEAE with men, don't you think WAMO-AM has a decent demographic of African-Americans?
Please don't take this personally, but the dismissiveness of these AM stations- we could even call them "crapkickers"- by a few on this board is simply not valid in my opinion.
Okay, it's not the band for music.
But it is in so many cases where careers start, where the talent can be creative and informative, and it hits a target demographic- be it sports junkies like me or the wealthy with business talk or the informed with news or what have you.
Ratings might not tell the whole story here. Sure, WMNY gets lower ratings than it did as WPTT.
However, it is targeting a more affluent audience. I'm sure they make more money, and even if they lost a significant audience share they may actually have more influence (Lynn Cullen talking about George Bush has NO influence on Washington. None. Nada. A businessman telling you what to invest in and making you rich- that has influence).
To me, it's about quality. KQV getting a soundbite and breaking something big from City Hall, or hearing a Coldplay record announced?
