M/S/U Ratings Feb 11

Be prepared for yet another NJ 101.5 ratings rant ::)

92.3 Now AHEAD of Z , but not in cume.

Thunder holding on to that 1.8 but cume is slipping.

I'm more interested in the yo-yo that is WMGQ's ratings - 5.7 to 6.1 to 4.4. PPM has not been too kind. Nice to hear Jeff Rafter back on the air tho. Nice to see WCTC with something above a 1 share.

Maybe go CHR and take a bite out of Z, Now, and PLJ? Nahh...its GM. CHR isn't there bag.

Followers of MedianJ are not surprised at the Millennium Meltdown in ratings and cume at NJ101.5. As you’ve been following since Walter Sabo is gone so are much of the M/S/U ratings at Millennium’s flagship WKXW FM radio. If the loss of the very important Moody’s ratings in 2010 wasn’t bad enough these poor ratings results is the primary reason to perpetuate must needed changes to management and programming. Jim Gearhart and Eric Scott are not the problem, they are the stars. The current management appears impotent as these dismal ratings suggest. My complete analysis, opinion and commentary pertaining to the meltdown ratings at Millennium NJ101.5 WKXW FM radio will be forthcoming.

Radio is a business, not a hobby.

How about charting the last 12 months, I did, the graph shows a steep drop from the upper left to the lower right. Let me interpret it for you, it’s a terrible track record. With such a shocking dramatic drop in ratings and cume PD Eric Johnson should turn in his letter of resignation tomorrow, you can’t defend this.

Jim Gearhart and Eric Scott along with his Ask the Governor program is the only redeeming highlight, in the sports world changes would have already occurred. The goal is to trend higher not sharply lower. Not supervising properly and allowing The Jersey Guys to talk about Charlie Sheen last week instead of a Jersey topic is unacceptable and contributes to a steep ratings drop. Its New Jersey 101.5, TALK Jersey, it shouldn’t be that difficult to manage and understand. Any syndicated show can talk about Charlie Sheen, the draw to NJ101.5 is a Jersey centric topic, get a PD in there who can manage effectively this winning format. In a random listen the hosts are taking to long setting up the topics and getting to calls, problems there go unfixed month after month after month.

My full analysis of the ratings Meltdown at Millennium’s NJ101.5 WKXW FM radio will be coming soon

Weak management + weak hosts who don’t follow the format = weak results.

MediarI is quick to add...

Urinalysis is letting That Other Perpetrator off-the-hook!

Why blame THEM???
What about that dang consultant???

Radio is just a hobby, if you're no longer in the business.

Or, as Willie Stargell put it: "When you start the game, they don't say 'Work ball!' They say 'Play ball!"'

It's a curious irony that WCTC more than doubled their ratings in their last month of the Oldies format. Maybe the switch back to talk was premature?

Could it be that NJ101.5 isnt PPM friendly during the week? Would adjusting the clocks work, or maybe shortening the news+stopset block at the top of the hour so that they get back to the hosts before 8 or 9 past the hour? Given that WBZ-AM & KYW-AM are faring pretty well in PPM land, take a look and see what they do to keep people around longer with a non-music format.

101.5 has a 10 share in Mon/Oc - yet is struggling in M/S/U. Could be PPM vs Diary, or the makeup of the market (M/S/U is VERY ethnic...Mon/Oc is still pretty white).

Nice sound byte. At least they didn't make fun of Eric Johnson on air...

I don't really get a chance to listen to NJ 1015 anymore since I live outside of the signal area in South Jersey. However, my business sometimes takes me to Trenton so I can give them a listen. It's sad the radio station isn;t doing well in the ratings. But that may be because of what they offer. On my way to Trenton today I heard Jim Gearhart. He's great. Having Judi back is so much better. However, when I left Trenton you had on the Jersey Guys and quite frankly they stink IMHO. In one breath he was saying he wouldn't allow Lawrence Taylor near his young daughter who I think he said was 10 or 11. But a minute later I hear him and someone who appears to be that very same daughter doing a commercial talking about where he hides his porno magazines. That gives him zero credibility. They brought back Judi. They need to bring back Tommy G and get a better show in the afternoon because I think after today I won't be listening to them in the afternoon anymore.

And, whoever runs the company PLEEEEEZE get your radio station back in AC and Wildwood again so I can hear you guys more (at least in the morning and to noontime).

Friends, it would be nice if all hardworking Millennium employees can live an undaunted lifestyle with a boat of their own. A good consultant does not need to tell you the name of their boat, they should, instead boast about how they helped boost ratings and employee salaries. How can Millennium employees ever expect to come close to such a lifestyle with an appalling approx. forty percent decrease in NJ101.5 M/S/U ratings year to year? As you just saw in previous posts are clowns minding these radio stations?
Will there now be a rate card cut that can affect employee wages?

Professional radio consultants do not come on message boards to brag about their boats and make light of this sad ratings situation. Hardworking Millennium employees who are struggling to make ends meet deserve better management who take success seriously. Employees may not find it funny that the consultant is yachting on his boat “undaunted” while they are off to their second jobs just to pay their essential bills.

The recent NJ101.5 Millennium WKXW FM radio M/S/U ratings plunge is not “undaunted, it is an embarrassment and failure. There was no way to defend the ratings plunge so let’s distract the thread with talk of a consultant’s boat, ridiculous. Let’s get back to business, nothing will change unless changes are made; PD Eric Johnson should resign effective immediately.

Ironically look at this from one year ago today; this is no way to run a radio group that wants to be taken seriously. Millennium should be ashamed of this article.

Gearhart, Scott and Ask The Governor are the only reasons I even tune in NJ 101.5. The other hosts are simply not appointment radio. Overnight is a waste since Tommy G left.

Jim Gearhart is an excellent host, but he's probably closing in on retirement. Eric Scott is an excellent newscaster and talk show host. He'd do well on a New York station. :)

Eric Scott is an excellent newscaster and talk show host. He'd do well on a New York station.

Eric Scott did work at WCBS-880 AM for a while, but NJ-101.5 brought him back and made him news director.

It's just an educated guess, but I suspect he'd rather be the news director, and the definite "news star" at NJ-101.5 than just one of the many professional newscasters at WCBS.

He probably has much less of a commute too. And Millennium does pay some of its "stars" more than they might get at some New York stations.

After all, for many years NJ-101.5 billed more than some New York stations.

RE "for many years NJ-101.5 billed more than some New York stations"

Probably still does!

They should simulcast NJ 101.5 on multiple frequencies creating a network of them to "REALLY" cover NJ. Buncha liars!

I agree, I live in Essex County and 101.5 is very hard to pick up. The signal really drops off north of I-78.
