Madonna-4 Minutes....(not impressed)

I dont know about you guys, but this is definately not the best material from the Material Girl (no Pun)...

Anyway, I thought it might grow on me a little, but it isnt. I just dont think this sound is right for her, I like Maddona's Electronica POP and I love most of her Ballads as well, but I just dont think she does Hip Hop-Rhythmic very well.

it's dreadful, but radio is really trying to sell a pig's ear in a silk purse..good luck with that...she should have done a rock album, and then let the re mixers go crazy

This will go the way of Me Against The Music by Britney and Madonna. Quick rise to #1, then a quick fall once the PDs realize how bad the song is and yank it out of heavy rotation.

I like it. Other then the fact that they say her name too much in the song, I think it's solid and should do well.

I know, I was getting ready to say it sounds like JT is saying Mcdonalds

Its a piece of crap. Remember when she use to be innovative and fresh? Now she's just Granny trying hard to fit in with the hip hop crowd going Timbaland produced. But she's not Mariah! Its too late for that. And whats up with the Tick tock tick tock??? Doesn't she got anything fresh anymore?

The tick tock tick tock is an obvious reference to the fact they supposedly only have 4 mins to save the world.
Madonna's no stranger to the world of R&B/Pop producers. Didnt she have a NUMBER ONE hit with Babyface in the mid 90s titled "Take A Bow"?
I think this record is a lot better then most of the Dance records Madonna's released this decade. Is it her best song ever? No. Is it the greatest Dance song out right now? No. It's more Pop then Dance, and Madonna is definitely one of the queens of Pop music. Is it a catchy record? Yes. Does it appeal to females? Yes. Does it fit the current sound of CHR radio? Hell yes!
The record is already Top 10 at 93.3 FLZ Tampa, 95.1 KHOP Modesto, at the new Hot 95.7 Houston, Wild 95.5 West Palm Beach,
It's about to break Top 10 status at the new 96.5 The Mountain Chattanooga, Radio Now 100.9 Indianapolis, Z-100 in New York, Hot 99.5 washington, Power 106 Fresno, Kiss 108 Boston, Y-100 Miami, etc.

which shows how bogus radio station Top 10s are since the days when actual sales affected airplay rather than the desire to keep the artist happy so you'll have tickets to give away when the tour comes to town...

the tick tock reference implied that she was revisiting the tick tock in 'Hung Up" from the last CD

It will probably fizzle out and soon be forgotten. Think "American Pie". Its not a classic. It has no longlasting replay value like Hung Up, Get Together etc.. These POP stations that you mention will eventually drop it and never play it again just like American Pie. Is anyone missing "Me Against the Music" on the radio? Same thing with this song.. Not a classic.

And the tick tock is from Hung Up. Shes got no new ideas she just has to rehash what was catchy in her older songs. ::)

And Justin Timberlake? Does he have to do a duet with Everyone?????!!!

I just wish she would do another concept album like "ray of light" or "Music." She was heading in the right direction. She could have done so much better.. The song just doesn't "Pop" out at me.. never has. I added it simple to jump on the band wagon, but I refuse to put it in High rotation, just because I do have some shred of pride :-\

Maybe she would have done better with releasing a more rock leaning album, or maybe a bit more AC friendly. I mean eventually the Rolling Stones did wake-up one morning and say "Ok, we can't keep trying to attract new, younger listeners.." and then just worked at satisfying their core audience of Old Farts! (Come on, you know it's true!)

Another route she could have taken is something like Tori Amos, where she targets more of an AC or AAA audience (maybe like Fiest or that chick from the Rhapsody commercial..) and then let the remixers cover the dance community through remixes. I mean who produced this new track? Has some shades of Timbaland on it, she needs to get back with William Orbit..WTF?!?

As for Justin, I mean, come on, you know he likes the Cougars... Roar! ;D

The End?

C'mon Jimi,

You know that actual sales were never really a factor. Stores got more perks than the BB Club jocks to report songs and albums Top 10. Of course there were lots of retailers that reported true sales but most were looking for the free stuff.

many indie records without a budget broke through/forced their way through in the 60s,70s, 80s and 90s based on street action,a lot of that based on club play, the majors always played the game their own way

Win the streets and you win the game. It's really that simple too bad not many get it. ;)

After hearing it for a week, it is starting to burn out. It's burning out much faster for me than most other hits.

That single is a hot mess. It might have worked better if it was just Madonna singing lead all the way through instead of as a duet with Timberlake/Timbaland. As it is with all three singing lead, there's just too much going on.

Q102 in Philly has started playing this as well, but then again they seem to love anything that Timbaland churns out--last fall three of the five most-played songs on that station's playlist had some sort of Timbaland connection. But I don't know if they'll end up giving this brainwash rotation as well, or end up as being the record that makes them realize they've had their fill of all things Timbaland.

There are some remixers working on this--Bob Sinclar, Tracy Young, Peter Rauhofer. At least it'll be interesting to see which remixes the dance outlets decide to go with.

It's doing much better at The Bunkhouse since I've picked up the BPMs, by about +10,much better reaction and sound,at least until the remixes hit the street

I like it. It's a good pop formula and I think will be around for awhile.

When I'm still hearing "Low" every 45 mintues months after it's peak, I think this one will be around for a bit.

Yup, this record is blowing up - watch for it to make a very impressive leap tommorow on the Billboard Hot 100. Doing much better then that piece of crap called "Sorry" by her that a lot of you were into a couple of years ago.

well, looks like all the haters were wrong on this one - it's a smash!
Remember a couple of years ago when some of you were crying about how American radio no longer supports her b/c it's ignoring Dance music, or b/c she's gotten too old for the format? Well, John Parker and Robbins proved you guys wrong with Cascada on the Dance front, and Madonna is proving you wrong with her latest hit. Her last album simply sucked! Sorry to all you "Sorry" and "Hung Up" fans but America just wasn't feeling it.
"4 Minutes" on the other hand peaked at number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, nearly Top 10 at CHR/Pop, Top 20 on the Hot 100 Airplay chart, top 30 at Rhythmic and Hot A/C radio, and number one for 2 weeks now in the UK. It also debuted straight in at number one in Australia and Germany, rises to number one in Holland and Belgium, and is number 2 in France and Italy.

I'm guess im one of the few that likes her previous dance album and this one as well. She's going to have more success with this one without a doubt. Her new album is more Chr Rhythmic driven and with Timbaland serving up the latest beats can't hurt a bit. Plus,Timbaland adds the "cool" factor to the younger audiences. I've been hearing "Candy Shop" on the Urbana dance channel on Music Choice, they play it quite often. Wouldn't be surprised if this is the next single released.
