Madonna in 2012

As I hear the song in the 12 o clock mix right now, I must admit that the instrumental of the track is pretty good. It's the childish cheerleader vocals and lyrics that kill the song. It sounds like a song that would come on after Wizards of Waverly Place and Blue's Clues on Disney Channel HD. Not sure why she had the song lyrically and vocally designed that way. It even makes Katy Perry's music sound more lyrically mature and adult oriented in comparison.
I am glad there was a lot of dancing and performing during the well done Madonna Super Bowl performance because the first thing I literally thought when she came out was "I surely hope she puts on a show because if she doesn't, people will be upset, criticize, and bring up her age" .....the same way they did with Britney Spears when she made a come back performance and didn't do much during her performance. I still remember how much Whitney Houston was talked about for not doing or moving too much doing her shows and performances. I was hoping that Madonna was going to at the least outdo the Black Eyed Peas performance because even the Black Eyed Peas only received SOME praise while others hated on their performance. I'm glad Madonna did end up outdoing the Black Eyed Peas performance... and on top of that, no nipple made a guest appearance (although a middle finger did).

I'm a big Madonna fan and was just thinking of some of her older songs and wondering whether they would be played on the radio anymore:
"Die Another Day" - This song had a lot of airplay on CHR stations in late '02 and early '03.
"Rain" - This was from her Erotica album that came out in '92.
"I'll Remember" - This song was on the With Honors soundtrack from '94.
Obviously "Rain" and "I'll Remember" would not be played on CHR stations, but would any CHR stations still play "Die Another Day"? Has anyone heard that on the radio recently?

Interesting that I've still yet to even hear the song played on B93.7 in Greenville, SC (despite it's claims to play "All the Hits"). But this is also a station that really just started playing Adele's "Set Fire to the Rain" last week so it just may be their general slowness in new adds (except if it comes to someone like Katy Perry, of course).
You'd think it would also get airtime on Hot AC's but again our sort-of-Hot AC WMYI also has yet to add it.
Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if it never even hits our CHR.
EDIT: Well, just checked Mediabase and it's showing up on WFBC's currents. But they haven't played it a single time within the past 24 hours.
The halftime show had more viewers than the actual game. It's a ratings bonanza. Why would they get rid of something that clearly works?
GMAYL virtually disappeared from the airwaves, at least compared to a few weeks ago...is this any indicator of how Madge's latest album is going to perform?
In response to the poster that mentioned several of Madonna's songs that aren't heard anymore: honestly, her cutoff date on the radio seems to be 1990....she had some hits in the 90s, but they are non-existent on the radio. AC, Hot AC, or Adult Hits won't touch them. A few AC's play "Take A Bow", but that's rare. I just think her music went downhill after Like A Prayer.

In the 90s, her music seemed to take a backseat to the romantic entanglements, the rather unsuccessful attempts at acting (save for "A League of Their Own"), and the perceived notion that she had transformed from a rebellious young woman with a punk hair cut and leggings to a woman who suddenly was developing a British accent and often was viewed as pretentious.
I think this damage to her personality was the biggest detriment to her career. She would always try to come back as a fun, young personality with pop friendly records like "Music" but no one was buying what was clearly an act, by then.
Not that artists don't have the right to evolve, both musically and as people, but Madonna stopped being Madonna when she stopped being the young, fun, effervescent personality that originally electrified her music.

Evidently, Madonna is moving on to her next single, "Girl Gone Wild," judging by what I'm seeing on my various homepages. Back in the '80s, Madonna could put out a new single every month, and keep them all on the charts simultaneously. But nowadays when she comes out with a new single every month, I am led to believe that it is because the previous one tanked.
