"Magic"? What will CC Say

When was the last time WMAG used "Magic" and will Clear Channel have anything to say about the new name for 94.1??? I know the used to service mark everything in sight!

WMAG quite saying 'Magic' around 2000 if I'm not mistaken.

I too find it difficult to believe that 94.1 could use the Magic name after 99.5's long association with it.

I think that's why they're calling it "majic" with a "j". that should cover them.

plus, i hear cc may be concentrating on other issues

CC can't say anything. WMAG hasn't been officially called "Magic" since the early to mid '90s. It sure might confuse some listeners, however... a lot of them still refer to 99.5 as "Magic."

If CC was smart, they would have registerd the service mark and COULD say something. You are right, most people still call WMAG "Magic".

In addition to the issue with the "Magic" name, CC has an oldies station in Cleveland (WMJI) that goes by the name "Majic"... I'm surprised Hitz 94 went that route; I thought they would simply add "classic" to their name. Perhaps they named it "Magic" to attract the WWMG crowd from Charlotte?

Still after that Charlotte audience? ;) A move from Winston-Salem's suburbs to southern edge of Davidson County would help. Along I-85 near the Yadkin River? If Rowan says no, try southern Davidson. It's the longest county north-south in the state. Just a few miles would make a big difference in Gaston and southern Mecklenburg.

Just noticed something on the Hitz 94 site: Not only is "magic" spelled the same way it is on WMJI ("Majic"), they even copied WMJI's logo, with slight modifications. Expect some flak from CC...

I cannot find a new website! Give us the address. I heard the change will start at 12:00 noon so maybe we will have answers soon.

Playing songs about Magic - do you believe in Magic?

They made a big announcement - The New Magic - Playing the Oldies right at noon!

Worst sign on ever.

They just insist on half assing everything. A dance mix of MMT?? A few songs about magic. No jocks, no good copy, just "the new magic 941" and then a song that you can hear on 2-3 other signals between here and Charlotte.

I know I do.

Evidently, they've killed the Hitz 94 site, but to see what I mean about the new Majic logo, check out this site:

www.wmji.com

The above website is that of WMJI "Majic 105.7" in Cleveland. The "Majic" in WTHZ's new logo exactly matches that on WMJI's logo.

The website is back up: www.hitz94.com will redirect you to the new site (majic941.com). Now everyone can compare Majic 94.1's logo with WMJI's logo and see what I referred to in earlier posts.
