The books almost over, so as usual, it's time for Magical ch-ch-ch changes.

The Trent Michaels kmx morning show is..trentless...history, gone, vapor. Will KVD be pressed into permanent service, or Stephano? Or.. will the phone at Kid Kraddock's syndication company get ANOTHER call?

Rick and Bubba on 100.5 are now ALSO on 1039..again. Dave fans can hear him doing afternoons...hmmmmm.

Loved the Rickey Stokes News report about Amy cooking boston butts to raise money for KC. Ken's a SUPER guy. Kinda made Magic look bad though as their Morning Guy's without a paycheck and his sick leave's run out.
 
I agree with Stewy on this one...looks bad when a company won't cover the salary on a major player recovering from health problems. Thought I'd go by and pick-up some ribs Friday afternoon, but the place was packed-out! They had a policeman directing traffic and cars were backed-up all the way down to Ted's! So it's good that the listeners were stepping-up to help out Ken.
 
Does anyone have updates on how KC is doing? I haven't called in a while, shame on me, but I hope he is making good progress. The Radio People's thoughts are with you KC!
 
Update, listening this morning to Tracey and Stephano (subbing in Trent's old slot?) and they were talking and asking for callers about how to save money in this economy. Good, timely topic but she speaks out that if you're buying a car, "get on line and shop out of town because you might save enough to pay for the higher delivery charge". Someone please explain to the nice lady (and she does seem to be nice) that the car dealers are a whole lot of the revenue for Magic in Dothan (Action and Schmitdz are Bama Jam sponsors) and the Mr. Cramer of Outlet is (or was?) one of the companies investors.
 
I have to agree....On all accounts. It is bad that MB did not step up and take care of it's own. As far as the KMX Morning show goes they better get help fast. The new Girl...has no clue on what it takes to be front liner. She has over the weeks made several out of the way remarks regarding to local folks and issues that have me changing the channel when the music stops.
 
It's a shame that Tragic can not find a way to help out one their few assets in such a situation. Giving credit where credit my hats off to Ms Pollard for doing her part. But there is a little voice that has to be wondering if she did this just for more self centered attention? Sorry to bring this up but I know I am not the only one wondering...I hope she did this out love and compassion for her partner.

As far as the other 100,000 waste of wattage, I have a few suggestions.
1) Save your power bill and turn it off.
2) Call Kidd Kraddick. As an anti-syndication person Kidd is great and will do wonders for your demo and your revenue.
3) As for bashing your bread and butter on air well I will quote from my friend Forest..."Stupid as stupid does."

Maybe I'm missing something, but then again I haven't listened to MY 103.9 in awhile, but can someone tell me how Rick and Bubba fit on that station? And why have the same show of two stations? I'm guessing the broken format wheel is spinning and probably in the wrong direction.

If I could win the lottery!

The spinning format wheel comment was funny. It's sad, Stewy, even though you're laying low, all is as you predicted.

Thanks Tibbs, it is sad. No, being right does not make one feel good in a situation as this because people suffer and it is generally the wrong ones that do. I'm sure this is not happening just in the Wiregrass but nationwide. Note the lack of activity on all the boards everywhere......don't think anyone is left in the industry. Have heard first hand of markets where a new MM comes in and after canning air talent then proceeds to can ALL the sales people making commissions. Once again folks, hang in there, get rested and be ready because we that do the business out of love and passion of service need to be prepared to "turn the lights back on".

Tom and Kim, have heard they've started other business ventures, hope all is working out well for them.
 
As always Stewy you hit it right. I just saw the opening for PD at KMX.

I'm sure Trent tried his best as all of us know who have sat in the PD chair its not an easy job.

So here is my question to everyone What changes would you make for KMX.

Any thoughts?

I agree it did make them look bad but we all know that revenue is scarce downtown.Trade does not help the station at all when it comes to income. Something that I can't understand is why some chase after Ron's $ 500.00 a month a Cowboy's and give him spots and plugs constantly,Ron benifits by having the listeners spending money at his place while all TVY gets is the $ 500.

Back to the KC thing why wasn't every Majic station down there trying to raise money for him?
 
We'll find out in about 5 months and three weeks when his non-compete, non-disclosure runs out, maybe sooner.

A couple of things...
1, putting Kidd Krackhead on, not smart for a couple, but here is one, he's on at double O and KMX reaches, do your recearch and you can figure it out.

2, Trent Quit because he was tired of dealing with the people that cant get it right! ALL THE LIES! the people that are trying to run things are C.C X-employees, They dont know what to do, they have no Idea on how to do Good radio/local/radio period. Remember none of them really programed anything, the have been told what to do and play, all Chris A knows is book programming and people told him what to play from Corprate, now he know not to "wet on the floor" but can not figure out how to let himself out.

3, Don McCoy is lost, he has no Idea what to do or who to ask, thats why Jeff is still screwing things up, look at P.C numbers...WILN DOWN,the rest, (x wave) DOWN, but they stick with him because they have no clue, SO LET US BRING IT DOWN FUTHER SO JEFF CAN BUY MAGIC FOR DIRT CHEAP..aaAAHHHHH YES JEFF WANTS TO BUY IT, BUT HOW? KILL IT FIRST??? .

4, K.C sorry buddy that your Magic (clear magic) people are doing you this way.

5, As for KMX, unless new owners come in, it will soon become part of WILN they will just plug and go, but anyhow
other that Doug (stewy) Freddie, and the rest not wanting the next generation to move foward on kmx (sorry unhappy,bitter, people) it was on track and moving solid, untill other people or person relized the lies and tired of fighting walked, you should have embraced what you could not control, it wasnt the new people fault you got cut, they just did a job. if you loved KMX like you claimed maybe being proactive and pass the torch, but no! it's not like your 3 or 4 opinion's matter anyhow, talking is one thing, but you have had no actions to prove the mouth.

6, Rick and bubba= joke, new OM = joke (another CC GUY) Tragic Broadcasting = JOKE!,

It is funny how some people have all the answers, but none of the guts to proceed bringing those answers to reality.

Have any of you applied for the job? Have any of you previously held the job in the past? Do any of you actually have any radio experience to begin with or are you just meddling outsiders who happened to be smart enough to find this messageboard?

My momma always said, "When it comes to thinking you can do better than what is done by others, either put up or shut up."

Perhaps some of you who have posted in this thread and others that have been critical of the radio happenings in the market ought to put your money where your mouth is and do it better.

Normally a true challenge from windsofkain but under the circumstances the posters on this thread are speaking from past experience of working for the company in question and I doubt that any have any desire to jump back into the mess. Reminds me of a Great White album name, "Once Bitten....". If you'd like a history kain then just read the archived 50 or so pages on the AL board. But hey, thanks for joining in the discussion!

Appreciate the welcome, but it's misplaced. I am not in Dothan now, nor do I plan to be. I just have grown really sick of reading the same crap over and over from the same people.
