Major CC flip in Orlando

Re: Not a chance

Why not local all-news? That's the format of the week!

There just seems to be too many hands grabbing the piece of News/Talk pie. And considering the fact nobody under 30 has touched the "AM" button on their radio, that may be one of the best ways to make a name for themselves

Radio-X

This is Genesis you're dealing with. You would be lucky if they put up half as much money into something local that cheap channel does with WFLF. Here's what most likely will happen. They will have someone live in the AM and maybe PM drive. The rest of the time will be whatever free stuff they could get off the bird and pay for play.

Lol to genesis then :). So, Orlando loves the news and talk stations ay? We have 540, 580, 660, 810 and 1190 if you would count 810 as a news station but either way it's still a talk station. Plus 96.5 and 104.1. I don't think 104.1 will be doing the flip because everyone says they will be back in 2012. I'll have to check there ratings. HMMMM I'm beginning to think if CC does indeed do a flip it's 107.7. Not sure why.
WMGF is probably one of, if not the cheapest stations CC has to run in Orlando. It also probably bills well. Low overhead. I doubt CC will blow the only AC in the market up, even if the ratings aren't great.

I just think 104.1 for a 540 simulcast for some reason.

RE: 105.9 - guess I'm in the minority - when I don't get to listen in person, this is my go-to station for classic hits online. Awesome station.

Exactly. It's about the bottom line. Magic 107.7 is not going anywhere. If you're gonna spend big money, you better make big money. Hello 2012... goodbye Real Radio (in it's current form).

Here is how the game is played:

Those stations in the top five, 25-54 persons, gets the buys. WTKS makes the cut, so Real Radio 104 isn't going anywhere.

However, Magic hasn't made the grade in eons. They are not the only AC, WMMO is their direct competitor. WPOZ eats both their lunches albeit as a "Christian AC".

So now what?

Re-invent as "Lite 107.7"? Flip to country and take on a vulnerable K92? Flip to hip-hop to flank Jamz from attacking highly rated XL?

Wonder if they'll just keep playing classic rock after a weekend on WTKS. so monday at 6 AM , its still classic rock.
Not sure how wel they do in rateings with talk, or if they get better rateings on weekends with Classic Rock or not... just a thought.

I firmly believe that real radio will not be going anywhere. If they were you probably would have heard about it on the last day of live shows before they started to run the best ofs. If any cc station flips it will probably be magic because it was pretty low in the ratings when i looked at the ratings page on this site.

I highly doubt CC will throw in the towel on Magic. They'll try to salvage it before they do that. Seems to me that SunnyFM and Mix are competition to them as well - I wouldn't call 98.9 107's only competition. Will be interesting to see how 107.7 does with Christmas music. I still think Magic may bill well, despite the ratings, and it has low overhead. I'd bet it's CC/Orlando's cheapest FM to run.

Then Orlando has no Mainstream AC station.

WPOZ has taken over as the mainstream AC. That's the problem. They are consistently #1 6+, always first or second, 25-54.

How do you counter program a Christian music station without being a part of the life group yourself? The answer is- you can't.

They have ruined Magic, muted Mix and stunted Sunny. They haven't done K92 any favors, and until recently, WMMO has at least survived.

At this point, XL 106 is their only challenger.

Well then cc will flip nothing. I don't see what else they can flip. Unless for some off reason they flip rumba. So anyone see any format flips coming in Orlando in 2012? 1190 is obviously gonna go news and talk.

Uh. Maybe this area is more supportive of Christian CHR then AC. Maybe there is another way Magic could do AC. I have no idea.
Are you saying that in offices that WPOZ is on more then Magic?

WPOZ's #1 ranking 6+ would certainly indicate that.

so what's the "major flip", that Magic dumped Delilah? Really, that's it?
:D
