Mancow, WTDA

I have listeneed to Mancow pretty regularly and the last month or so it is like they are constantly replaying shows OVER and OVER....... anyone know why this is? I thought he was live in the mornings. Also, a week ago they had on Dave Ramsey??? No wonder people don't listen.

Maybe getting waterboarded for a couple seconds really took a toll...and/or the verbal pummeling he took from all those "REAL man" "patriots" who branded him a wussy traitor for admitting it was definitely torture.

They're not reruns - they're all new shows. It just sounds the same because he just keeps saying the same tired BS over and over again.

...like the rest of the right-wing blowhards like Hannity and fat boy Rush. ;D

WCRS 102.1/98.3 is geting slighty more listeners than WTDA. The only two shows that is worth listening to is Science Fantastic and Phil Hendrie.

Im Curious are there any ratings numbers for WCRS?

As bad as 'TDA is, really, I'd be very shocked if a pair of LPFM stations with even more limited coverage, and non-mass appeal programming, was beating them. Even if it's Mancow on 103.9. :D

Well the licensed holder of WCRS hand me an letter from Arbitron last week Steering Committee stating that we are now at 0.5 to 1% of Columbus Ohio radio listeners. Compare to WTDA free fall in the ratings plus beating out WBNS AM and WVKO AM. Remember our Biggest name on the station is Amy Goodman. When we had our April 10 promotion with Amy Goodman 200 people was able to come out for the noon time event. That is lot more people come out when Ed Schultz was here last year.

Sorry, I find that very hard to believe...even as anemic as WTDA is in the commercial talk radio market.

And both of the WCRS signals...well, last time I drove down there, their signals were quite weak even in areas you'd expect would be a stronghold for such an operation. There's just not a good enough signal to produce any significant rating.

Listener response? I can see that. Those who listen to stations like WCRS are activist, passionate listeners. Those 200 people may be the entire listenership base, though.

I look at the Arbitron info that the owners of WCRS Simply Living gave me it says that we are placing in the non comm radio ratings. We are streaming as well.

Radio ratings are measure in 15 minutes blocks. You should know this. You talk a good game but you don't know how radio really works.

I'm glad Ohio Media Watch took the time to call you out on this one. If WCRS-LP has more then a few hundred listeners at any one time, that would be surprising.
Mancow's show probably has at least one thousand listeners at any one time in the Columbus area.

After the release of the next Arbitron book, quote the numbers for both WCRS-LP and WTDA.

Yes, I support Low Power FM radio in Columbus and YES WCRS-LP is doing pretty good programing wise but you are comparing apples and oranges.

BREAKING NEWS: Talkshow host left speechless...

Just as a side note, WSWO-LP showed in the Dayton area winter book. They were very surprised, as no one there expected to ever show up given the small percentage of the metro that actually gets the signal. Could have been lucky book distribution. However, their programming is more mass appeal than WCRS.

I don't see WCRS in the public RRC numbers for non-comms, but the last book posted was winter and they won't show if they did not buy the book.

Because I doubt that a pair of modest LPFM stations with non-mass appeal programming are beating any portion of a full-power (well...) commercial talk station's programming, I "don't know how radio really works"? Wow.

I have admitted more than once that I am not an expert on the slicing and dicing of radio ratings. On the blog, I almost never run through ratings topics, and analyzing 12-plus publicly-available ratings basically means nothing in the ratings game. There's a reason Arbitron allows those numbers to be used for free.

Would you care to provide more actual facts other than "we are placing in the non-comm ratings"? Hey, good for WCRS that it has listeners...but making claims that you're doing better than a full-power (well...) commercial outlet, as anemic as it is compared to a WTVN, is akin to claiming that you're going to broadcast from the Moon next week.

You know I'm not allowed to discuss the actual info. If I do that I would violate the volunteer contract.

Plus it is not hard to beat a station that gets an zero share.

Then running a blog is more easier than involving yourself at a radio-TV station.

But you already have discussed the actual info,

Then your ratings should be published in the non-comm ratings which are available on the internet - sorry, haven't seen the station show up there yet.
