Someone earlier mentioned Mayberry, NC. Andy Griffith was actually from Mount Airy, NC, which is in the nw corner of the state near the VA border and I-77. Many times mention was made of a nearby town called Mount Pilot. Pilot Mountain is about 50 mi. east of Mount Airy.

The funny thing about Mayberry, NC is that depending on which season or episode you are watching, the location of Mayberry moves place to place in the state, especially it's distance from Raleigh. In some episodes of TAGS, Raleigh is no more than 45 to 60 miles away, but in one of the later episodes, when Andy had to go to Raleigh on business, it was a 3 hour drive to Raleigh and a 3 hour drive back from Raleigh.

3 hours is about right, if you're talking about the real town of Mt. Airy.

This reminds me of how Smallville, Kansas in the "Smallville" TV series kept moving. In the early years it was several hours away from Metropolis (which, on one map shown in the series, was where Kansas City really is). By the final seasons, characters were living in Smallville and commuting to work in Metropolis. Now for Clark that would be no problem, though to those who didn't know of his super powers, it would have needed explanation.

And one non-Warner production that deserves a mention only because it was Walter
Matthau's only series: "Tallahassee 7000"; also, another Florida-based show, "Everglades,"
where I first saw an airboat (and years later got to ride in one).

Is this what Dennis Weaver drove in "Gentle Ben"? That was also set in The Everglades.

Where was the setting for "Sea Hunt"? I know that some of the underwater scenes where filmed in several places in Florida (Silver Springs, Cypress Gardens), as wel as the Bahamas and California, but was it ever stated what city or state it was set in?

Does anyone know if TV shows have been set in American territories like Puerto Rico, US Virgins, Guam?
I know it's unlikely due to language issues... But with the changing demographics in the continental 48 I could imagine a show set in Puerto Rico attracting significant interest in New York City. Could this be the next frontier? Law And Order: San Juan?, Guam 5-0?

Or would it just be too expensive to produce such a show?

Puerto Rico -- several locally produced and shown, but the only one on a major network was The Flying Nun, starring Sally Field in her second series (first was Gidget).
