Marino Returns to Morning Drive

NRD: You don't think it's a little childish to say "I know something you don't and I'm not going to tell you"? I can almost hear the "Nyah nyah nyah-"

No I don't think that's what I'm doing at all.

If NRD states what he thinks and it's not true, then that's slander. So it's more likely he doesn't know for sure. (and that's ok, NRD, don't say if you don't want to. No need to fuel the fire, I am just curious as to the reason.) I know Rick, but not well. I've never heard problems of this nature before. But then, I never wanted to be in the loop, spreading gossip.

My bad. That was "he" in a general sense. Although since that was brought to my attention, I'm now wondering if NRD was involved in a situation with the subject - the reason for his/her reply...

John Young put SM-95 on the air as I recall and when he left for Z-93 in Atlanta in early '79 or so, Donna Brake took over. She was there until leaving to take WSB-FM in Atlanta from Beautiful Music to an AC format. Don't remember who took the reins after Donna.

They must be doing something right on the JXA morning show... how long ago was that change? 2 or 3 years? And their numbers have not exactly suffered in am drive.

I haven't listened, but I know Kim Leslie. She is very talented, and I'm sure brings a lot to the table. I would have been reluctant to let Rick go because of his tenure at mix... or possibly couple Rick and Kim together like Kim and Dean were at KDF... both Kim and Dean could fit in any format. It will be interesting to see what Rick does at WSM. And if he does well there, is it worth wondering why he was let go from KDF - was it because of the rumor or the ratings?
