Markets without a primary ABC affiliate

> Zanesville, OH

Add Sherman, TX-Ada, OK to the list. About 10 years ago, KTEN-10 went from dual affiliation with ABC & NBC to sole affiliation with NBC.

They receive KOCO-5/Oklahoma City in the northern part of that market, and WFAA-8/Dallas in the southern part of the market. DirecTV and Dish provide WFAA as the local ABC in that market.

For Terre Haute, unless you have cable/satellite or a good outdoor antenna, you're out of luck. Most of the Terre Haute DMA is serviced by WRTV out of Indianapolis. Some others receive WICD/Champaign, IL (which just switched to ABC last September), and WEHT/Evansville, IN.

> Also, how about Laredo, TX and Laurel/Hattiesburg, MS?

You're right Laredo doesn't have an ABC affiliate. Although I just found out KLDO 27 used to be one. Then it switched to Telemundo and most recently to Univision. I do remember seeing in the TV guide that KGNS 8 would air both NBC and ABC programming. It was a mix of both. Now it just carries NBC.

Add San Angelo to the list. Yes they have the little Low power Ch 55 but I would think that they would pick up the affiliate out of the Midland/Odessa (KMID 2), or Abilene (KTXS 12). That would be my Guess anyway
______________

I was in San Angelo last summer, and stayed in a hotel that had the local cable. The low-power station is a satellite of KTXS in Abilene. They run San Angelo local commercials, with the same programming as the main station in Abilene.

Interestingly, WFAA (Dallas) is also available on cable there, sort of. The cable company flips the feed to KTXS during prime time, 7-10. The cable company then flips it back to WFAA at 10 PM for the news, before flipping it back to KTXS for Nightline, after local news. Basically, it is a second feed of KTXS, with WFAA news inserted at 6 and 10 PM. I didn't watch it in the morning, so I don't know how they handled the early news.
Edited by tvobserver on 02/06/06 04:47 AM.
