martini flipped?

is martini ac now? i hear liners for standards but the music is ac? is something up there also?

Martini was a stupid concept to begin with. A throwback to the 40's and 50's and B+W movies, who, these days, goes to a smokey piano bar, drinks a **martini**, smokes a cigarette, and listens to boring songs?

Martini is headed for the stupid format graveyard. The hell of a thing is that somebody got paid good money to come up with this crap.

They should just go AC and update their image, which is as sorry as DIVA's alleged woman in a leopard coat (really PC these days) and a wide-brimmed hat. The kind of psychowoman you'd cross the street to avoid.

106.1 was already an ac station a few years back. it was sunny 106.1, the north shore's soft rock station. it was really listened to by the people of picayune and waveland then. i dunno about now.....?????? seemed the people in mississippi liked it better.......

btw........... why is it that stations in small markets like mobile, panama city, meridian, etc............ have way better stations, formats, processing, and playlists than we do?? i find it extremely sad when i have to get in my car and tolerate static just cause i like listening to stations not here in town. and i don't particularly care for satellite.

i worked in radio quite a few years ago before leaving it and moving on. you'd think since we're a bigger city, bigger market, theyd have the funds. instead, they spend it like givin a child money and cuttin em loose in a candy store. "buy whatever you want son!!!!" lol

seems the bigger cities favor bringing in transient corporate puppets for pd's, and letting them run a station to the ground....... WITHOUT REGARD TO HERITAGE OR AUDIENCE......... the way i see it, oftentimes, it goes like this....the bigger the city, the worse it gets.

Sawtooth,
When discussing another topic a while back with an older person, he made the comment to me that New Orleans is a "big, SMALL city". In other words, for being such a big city, it's actually small when it comes to keeping up with the times. We sorta lag behind other cities in comparable size. Since then, I can apply his statement to a variety of things. Pretty sad when you think about it.

confirmed. jim hanzo emailed me and tol me the flip happened a few weeks ago. its gold based lite ac. the old format bombed! just like this one will ;D

The flip happened a few weeks ago...and nobody noticed till now?? Poor Hanzo, a nice guy who got thrown into the toilet by his wealthy father-in-law.
