I wonder...do we all head to the Internet and create KICK ASS SHOWS ans then market them ourselves? the internet is littered with thousands of "radio" type shows via live 365, Shoutcast, etc..most are rank amateurs that like playing DJ or simply have a love for music, and want to play some tunes...I've listened to hundreds of streams but haven't found any stand alone shows that seem to make any money..eventually OTA radio will be nothing more than computers playing whatever format execs think is the 'Hot' deal today..I'd say it's halfway there now...it may be that listeners today just don't care for a personality anymore..just pure media delivery..but that can be found with their I Phones, etc..so why even bother to tune in ? the coveted NOW generation doesn't want commercials interrupting the music..the demo that grew up from the Beatle era thrived on personality radio ..it was exciting, fun, and magic...but they are a fast aging group now, myself included, and OTA radio doesn't even consider us a viable listening force as such..even though TV is swamped with background music from that generation...make sense out of that!! I'm not familiar with other markets outside of Nashville, ..I'm sure there are personalities on the air in larger markets...but the local market is trying to "save" itself into profits...not the way it's done..as for VT...I don't think the average listener knows the "voice" is coming from 500 miles away...the audience has been dumbed down for a long time now...my opinion...and worth twice what you paid for it.. :p lol

I agree...most of what is out on the internet right now is as crappy as the stuff we are finding on the dial without the production value...but what if a product was well produced? Do you think it would find an audience? How large of an audience would an individual need to make a sustainable stream of revenue? I think this is a concept still in its infancy and bound to be better or at least offer more well produced options as time goes by.

when corporations bought all the radio they could..then realized they couldn't afford to run them...they dumped the reason listeners tuned in to save as much money as possible..the personality dj's..this all happened on the cusp of internet, ipods, personal types of media delivery..suddenly listeners could program their own personal station to fit their listening habits....and did not need OTA radio as much as before....as to real good internet stations that do it right..im sure there are several..but they are lost in the thousands of wannabe's ..gonna be hard for listeners to find them..and tune in in droves in order to make it profitable for that small few that do it right..although the internet has been around now for a long time...it's still the wild west of media casting..plus listener habits and their time to listen has dwindled with so many things to watch on cable, the web etc..life was so much easier to figure out when all we had was three fuzzy channels and rabbit ears..and just the handful of stations we could hear.....

:'(

With Proud Mary gone there is no reason to turn the radio off of 97.1 after Bob and Tom is over. I like my radio local not sitting in another city. Clear Channel... You are kind of acting like Gayloard who closed down a great and very busy theme park and Nashville tourist destination to build a stinking mall. That's what we needed another mall. Are you kidding me??? No Proud Mary, no 105.9 fm for me any more. The station can go down like the Titanic for all I care. Good job suits/accountants you can pin it on yourselves!

Cumulus would do well to hire Mary Glenn for mornings to do a live and local show in place of Bob and Tom.

I see that they are apparently slowly getting rid of photos of Laura Steele on those websites wearing other teams' jerseys (although she is still holding a Colts mug in one of them), they are going to need to get photos of Ms. Steele wearing tight'uns gear, and soon!

One day, not long from now, the middle managers charged with firing with no emotion good people who had emotion, will have done to them what they've been doing to so many.

Until then, they will continue to be insensitive and ambivilent about lives of others.

When that day comes and they come to seek sympathy or get empathy, I will know no one who will care.

And that's sad. Because part of the greatest of radio personalities was simply radio personalities..we understood, supported, and were fans of even our competitors. Now it's like few remember the old days, and no one trusts anybody.

I'm glad to have a job. Thank God it's not with Gaylord.

Hey, I've worked places that weren't the best choice just to have a job. Unless she goes ahead with retirement, she may just want a job for a little while longer... Cumulus would do well to take this opportunity to bring some long-time listeners on board.
