Matty's first day on Coast 93.3

As far as the website couldn't they just put a bio of Matt up instead of a link to everything on Kiss108? It's like buying a Big Mac and finding a picture of the Burger King king inside the wrapper?

A better analogy would be buying a Big Mac and discovering you got a McD.L.T.

The station should just change their name to KISS FM. There isn't a KISS FM in Providence. It seems like the perfect time to make that change. The programming is starting to lean towards that KISS format anyway. Why stop now?

Because Clear Channel with their financial status probably needs approval to take out a loan before registering those new WPKV calls...

i had to laugh today while driving in east providence this morning listining to the same morning show on 2 diffrent stations. i had 93.3 on and switched over to 107.9 during a song and heard the same exact show.... even the songs cristal clear on both stations.......... how fu*****g stupid

Well the same thing happens frequently these days. Howard Stern used to be on Hot 106, WBCN and a Cape Cod station. So depending on where you were you could get the same exact morning show on three stations. Same thing happens with Imus today. Boston, New York and Providence. Just pick a city and enjoy the duplicate programming. Welcome to the world of syndication. Cable television can kill duplicate programming. However stations can't do a damn thing about over the air signals that travel to other markets. They haven't figured out how to put up giant walls that stop signals dead in their tracks yet. I am sure if they could do it, then they would.

Of course, the big difference is Stern and Imus don't play music... Not to mention Matty probably will never be a national-caliber host like Stern and Imus (with all respect)...

thast why i was laughing....... its an FM morning show.... not imus or stern if i want to hear matty i would tune into kiss....put something on local on coast or just run seacreast morning show... at least we cant pick up a cali. morning show on the same dial

It is all a bit crazy to syndicate a show into a market so close. But when you are trying to build a new Network, I guess you will take whatever you can get. Syndicating into Hartford would have made more sense. Portland maine I could understand too. How about Vermont? Albany would be a decent idea too. Oh well. I think that this syndication effort is on the road to go about as well as the last one went 15 years ago.

Seems like they are getting better at syncing up; with exception to the 6am transfer over. There must have been 10 minutes of dead air this morning.

Also, why are the Matty podcasts on Kiss108.com, but not the 93.3 website? I want to show my support and give the Coast some clicks but am forced to go to Kiss. I know the Oxford St. folks read this so hopefully they'll get it worked out this week. Thanks guys.

For Southern Rhode Island and Eastern Connecticut I guess this could be exciting. A new morning show for you. For everybody else it will be a day where you can hear the same morning show on both ends of the dial. Maybe I'll tune in two radios and see what the difference is between both signals. Then again maybe I'll just sleep in. I'll go with the flow and see what happens.
Nope. If I wanted to listen to that crap I would have tuned to 108. I dont ever put 93.3 on anymore, deleted it from my car preset...how sad

Numo, we get it, you don't like WSNE....you don't have to resurrect 5 threads to point this out....1 is sufficient

Obviously you DONT get it. Never said I didnt like SNE per sey. I dont like the trend radio is taking with the canning of local talent and replacing it with out of market bird feed, especially the Boston based bird feed or bird crap.

pay attention (taps pen on desk tap tap tap) pay attention if you ate going to jump on me. Thanks

Seems to me you don't like it....maybe I'm missing the warm feelings between the words somewhere

Ok, I will explain. When it comes to terrestrial radio I have a fondness, if you would, with having a butt in the chair at the studio. I find voice tracked stuff painfull to listen to because you can tell its canned. That and it is so non interactive. As for matty, i will say what I said in another topic. If I wanted to listen to Boston radio....I would be listening to Boston radio...I dont. I tried listening to Matty on 2 occasions.....Between his incessive babbling that sounds like a 60 year old trying to be a teen and the typical "Red Sox this and Red Sox that bla bla bla" it all makes me want to vomit...seriously. For me having local talent is very important. Now, considering WSNE has what, 1 DJ left and I am sure her foot is on its way out the door....Enter my feeling toward the direction the station has gone.
That and a pet peave that I have, I hate Boston radio on Providence stations. I can go off on a differant subject about the abomination that is what has become of 103.7 but that whould take the topic to a whole new level.

The one DJ left on WSNE is actually Kristin Lessard who co-hosts mornings on B101 so I don't even count her on WSNE. By the way she does do a good job on B101 but was saddled with the tracking on Coast so for all intents and purposes I don't consider WSNE to have anything local. I'm surprised they even have her use her own name on Coast.

What stations aired Matty in the Morning 15 years ago?

Hot 106 in Providence..... and I think a couple of stations up North. Pretty much the same thing as right now. A few scattered stations around New England.

Matty and Crew need to broadcast from RI a few times to make it feel more local. Unfortunately; the reality is Matty is probably winding down and he won't feel like driving down here.

Their timing is still terrible; dead air is still frequent. They also jumble songs when they cut over in the morning; and sometimes the traffic reports follow eachother. Frankly; I'd rather listen to Lisa tell me about Boston traffic anyway.

I guess for some reason they can't run a tight board over there. When I had my little rinky dink radio job at WSAR in Fall River, one thing I prided myself on was running a tight board. The PD even complimented me on it. I worked 6 days a week. On Sundays I ran the board for "Countdown America with Dick Clark". I wanted it to seem local. So I would typically punch up Dick saying the call letters as he would intro a song (just as if he were in the studio). It sounded pretty flawless too. Nice tight transitions. This stuff is important. I even rolled tape on it so I could hear back how it sounded on air. If I can locate one of the tapes I'll upload it and post it to this thread.

That's not the reason it won't happen. KISS 108's value to CC vs. WSNE's value to CC is why it won't happen!!
