Maxell cassette labels

Has anyone found that the labels in Maxell cases seem to NOT stick? I never had a problem until I bought 20? packs at Sam's Club. I'll put one on to label a cassette and within a few hours, they are rolling up from the sides? Most of these were bought between 6 months and a year ago. Is there a quality issue or did I just get a bad batch?

I'd have to agree with you John. The Maxell 5 pack of UR90's from Walgreen's have been like this for me for about the last year. They ALWAYS curl at the ends.

However, I bought a 5 pack of 120's a few weeks back. They have the labels on a yellow piece of paper and you can barely get them off the sheet.

Yeah I've had that problem with some of the older (Not to old) tapes. Usually the ones (7 Pack) that I bought at Big Lots (Seemed bulk. Most likely made in 2000 and 2001) Big Lots no longer sells them.

The new Maxell labels are just fine.

Here is a picture. In this picture it will show the newer Maxell and the older Maxell. The older ones are the ones with the problem. There are newer Maxells (Shelling/look is a similar to the older but newer in design) that don't have problems. The NEWEST Maxell (First came out in 2004 or early 2005) have shelling and wheels completely different from the older ones dating back to the 80s. The one on the left is one of the NEWEST.

If you look close, you can see the labels peeling off the older one.
______________

Those labels are p--s poor. I never liked them. I still have many labels from TDK around and I am sorry for anyone whom I sent a Maxell label that does not stay on for five minutes. I buy my tapes from Sam's Club.

I have the same problem. I guess the quality of the tapes makes up for the cheap labels.

the only problem i have with maxell labels is that they are hard to write on...the labels have some type of wax substance which does not make it easy to write on when using ink. All other brands seem fine to write with.

Those are the newer Maxell labels.

The best way to write on them is to write on them before you put them on the tape. And use a pen. Pencil won't work at all.
______________

It's very easy to write on them if you use a fine point permanent marker.

So - then, what do you guys do to fix it? Scotch tape? Tear 'em off and use TDK labels? Just let them curl up and get stuck in your tape deck?? :)

I usually just let them go. They really don't curl off any more then they already did. But if they do, scotch tape.
______________

My mom used to record stuff for me when I wasn't able to and she would make the mistake of using pencil. I was lucky that she was willing to record anything for me in the first place, so I didn't complain. I'd just relabel the stuff when I'd recieve the tapes in the mail.
______________

When in doubt break out the ol' Scotch tape. I've had this problem with labels on a few VHS tapes, too. Not just Maxell, either.
______________

TDK Labels for the important tapes.
