One, you didn't hear the show. So you didn't get to hear the ACTUAL audio that Rover played. I, however, was in my car on my way to work when I tuned in and heard it. He does have the audio and he played a sample to prove it. Granted, it wasn't the racist audio that Becker discussed in an earlier post,
Game. Set. Match.
Becker,
you lose.
And if someone is taping a phone call to a talk show, that person either has no life or is working for the competition. Heck, even Media Matters operates with more dignity!

Now, if you knew anything about radio Nathan (not college, we are talking commercial radio)
Oooooooooooooooh. I'm scared.
NOT.
And I've had several years experience in commercial radio. I deliberately choose to downplay it. XD

then you would know that the business that BOTH Rover and Maxwell are in, is the teasing business. Why give up everything, when you could continue to tease a subjet, which causes people to continue to listening, which increases your TSL.
Exactly. That's why Rover's show is scripted in advance. With supporting characters Duji, Dieter, Dumb and Charley all having unrealistic and unlikeable roles, poorly designed and not playing to the strengths of the actors.
But the charade keeps people listening, and more's the pity.

Two, if Maxwell does get fired (or his contract not renewed) wouldn't that be because of his ratings (or lack thereof)? And, who competes directly against Maxwell? Rover. So if Rover has the ratings, and Maxwell doesn't, doesn't that mean that Rover, in essence, did get Maxwell fired?
CBS is sinking a whole lot o' money into 92.3 The Fan - and even declined to move Max onto 92.3 morning drive (which would have been in line with most of their FM sports station flips) in favor of a high-profile - and very highly priced - reunion of Kevin Kiley and Chuck Booms.
I've said before that I can't for the life of me see Maxwell on 98.5 and "Kiley and Booms" on 92.3 competing against each other in the same time slot. CBS's reuniting of K&B has been done both to annihilate ESPN Radio's "Mike & Mike" on WKNR... and to go head-to-head against the aforementioned Rover.
Same targeted demo. And K&B has a better chance of success that Maxwell ever could have.

I have no dog in this fight, unlike some (Nathan, who obviously seems to have a problem with the Rover show and it's crew),
Because it sucks. In comparison to Lanigan & Malone, especially at their mid-90s peak? Doesn't come close. When Lanigan retires, the Cleveland talk radio scene
will enter nuclear winter.

however, I do know entertaining radio when I heard it, and this mornings broadcast made me want to continue listening.
Say what you will about both shows, but one promised news and delivered. The other promised ratings and still hasn't.
CBS will let Maxwell go. Either by running out the contract, or by buying it out before Labor Day weekend.
Rover will not get Maxwell fired, despite his pointless "boasts" to the contrary.
This supposed "news" against someone who is so clearly on his way out the door, for reasons beyond his control, is utterly despicable to hear. If people really feel entertained by this, regardless of how Maxwell fared on WNCX, those people are as sick and twisted as Rover is.
A normal human being would have turned off the radio at such graveyard dancing.
Remember: karma.
