Mckenna out Jones in....

Well, I guess what you say has to be true because you used the colon AND quotations...doesn't get more "factual" than that!?!

I can't believe CBS hired Jones.
Is there a programmer with a worse reputation in the industry? The guy is a slimeball.
Good luck going against Cadillac!

OUCH!!!!
Care to back that up with some facts, please.

C'mon JJ, you expect THAT?? People LOVE to trash talk everyone else when, in reality, they don't have 1/2 the talent of those they trash!!

By the way, I have been a fan of your's, JJ, for many years. You, Ed McMann, Matty, Lady D, Uncle Dale and MANY more...you guys made it sound FUN to be on the radio and were inspirational in getting into the business! Although, with the current state of this industry, I'm not sure if I should thank you!! ;) (just kidding)

Good luck to Jay Beau Jones, too!! Congrats on the gig.

..And let's not forget about the GREATEST OF ALL, the late, GREAT Sunny Joe White.

Hey JJ, is there any chance of getting The "Morning Workout" on Oldies? (Possibly sometime on Dale's show?)

I remember on Fridays, you used to do the "Club Classics", I think if you stuck to the 70's and early 80's it would fit in with the ODS playlist very nicely :)

Speaking of McKenna and Falconi-

Any rumors as to where either of them may wind up ?
I'm sure that with the contacts they have, neither should be out-of-the-loop for long.

Did they ever teach you in school the difference between "fact" and "opinion".

You're spouting some sour grapes...that's your opinion, and I suppose your entitled to it. (We can only guess at your motives.)

In my 20+ years of working in the major markets, I have never heard anyone say anything bad about Jones. My understanding is that he's a down to earth guy who loves radio. People I know who have known him in Philly, Chicago and Worcester all speak well of him.

So much for your 'facts'.

Looks like McKenna will replace Jones at WXLO starting next week...

im sorry...im sorry but i have to...

someonemusicbiz: "you are an idiot".

see. colon and quotes = truth.

havent worked with Jaybeau for a little bit, and keeping in touch through the years, you're pretty delusional. He's a class-act...

He may have gotten WXLO some good numbers, and that's certainly what CBS is looking at. But they didn't do their due dilligence on this guy. His reputation is this: "arrogant jerk who does not have many allies and likes to bully people."

Wish him luck? No.

Wish the rest of the team at BMX luck? Yes. Dark days ahead at Mix sadly.

please. the whole gerbil in the morning crew needs someone to bully them. it has become one tired and lazy act and numbers certainly reflect that. meanwhile, xlo's zito and jen are ready to break out. they are always fresh and funny. wouldn't shock me to see them pack up and follow their former pd to boston.

Right on the money, Keith. JayBeau was my PD in Worcester for WORC-FM and 104.5 XLO when I was there full-time in 2003. I handled a few duties there in that short year including Creative Services Director and APD for Oldies, plus air shifts on both stations. JayBeau was an excellent mentor and a great guy. Yes, he truely loves radio; and it showed everyday. Although he had a lot of stuff on his plate, he managed his time well, made his staff feel valued (including me) all while taking the station one level higher every ratings book. I learned a lot from him and I must say that I miss working under his direction. I am SURE he will do good things for Mix 98.5 and Oldies 103.3.

As for the earlier post calling him a slimeball and other names... If you have anything NEGATIVE to say, please have pure FACTS at hand to back up why you have formed that opinion. Better yet, if you don't have something postive and/or contructive to say, don't say it at all.

Sorry folks... gotta agree with someonemusicbiz on this one. Though I wouldn't go as far as calling him a "slimeball," he definitely is known for bullying his employees and taking credit for other people's ideas. I've worked with JB for several years, and have seen him first-hand put the radio station's license in jeopardy by putting contests on the air that have yet to be confirmed by the record label (can you say payola?). He promotes things that never happen, doesn't give away prizes that he insists need to be given away (i.e. his prize sheets are still in the book at the end of the day), and over-promises on those "backstage passes" that the station is supposedly giving away... causing more problems with listeners than we've ever had. He doesn't pay attention in meetings. Richard J. Cabral- if by "Managing his time well" you mean that he schedules music and takes phone calls from his girlfriend (who couldn't hack it at Lite Rock so is now selling in Worcester... wonder how that happened?) in the middle of staff meetings, then yes- he manages his time well. He bullies people, but does it over e-mail because he lacks the people skills to deal with anyone face to face. Since he can't schedule the music in advance, he's constantly sending Selector files to his staff just 15 minutes before the music is supposed to be on the air, and then yells if a song is missed because the logs aren't merged on time. Every bit he does is stolen from TIC in Hartford, but I guess that's ok since he's working at a sister station now. Don't believe it? Just compare Mix & TIC's web sites next month. He's terrible with clients, and single-handedly ruined a charity event a few years ago when he started thanking the actual sponsor's competitor in an on-air wrap-up. I feel bad for anyone at CBS in Boston who has to answer to him until the higher-ups finally realize that the emporer's not wearing any clothes.

Hey Keith- I hope I've provided enough facts in this post. You may want to check with your "people" again, because apparently they don't know Little Johnnie Dowd as well as I do.

Well, I can tell you must be a good judge of character.

After all, it must have been been a tough decision to come here and slime someone's reputation anonymously. Then run away and hide again.

Well, facts are only as reputable as the people that provide them.

And your reputation is questionable that you have to hide behind anonymous posts.

Again, from my experience and people I know who have worked with him in other markets, all have good things to say about him.

I know the former GM of Citadel radio Worcester and he has always said that Jay Beau is a class act and the real deal. A major player in radio. His track record is impressive and the man is passionate about radio.

With the landscape of radio constantly changing with HD, satellite radio and radio streaming on the internet, I'm sure CBS knew they needed a radio professional for PD at WBMX and WODS. Jay Beau is also one of the top 50 PD's in the country for the 4th consecutive year through 2007.

Who am I to talk? On the side I do semi professional and professional sports announcing and voice overs. Combine this with statements from other Boston radio and media professionals and the allegations without facts of Jay Beau being a slimeball are ridiculous.

Radio and Records is now officially reporting that McKenna is replacing JayBeau Jones at Worcester's WXLO/WWFX/WORC.
