One thing I've been noticing the last few years...
Most stations in my neck-of-the-woods who broadcast the MDA Telethon have chosen to run it starting at 7:00am, 8:00am, or 9:00am on Labor Day, and totally cut out the evening/overnight portions of it from the night before.
Why are stations cutting back on how long they broadcast the telethon?
The only way you can now get the full 21-hour telethon is to see it at http://www.mdausa.org . Either that, or hope that your local station(s) will broadcast it in its entirety.
This year, I watched it online at http://www.mdausa.org .
One of the advantages is you get to see the entire telethon from start to finish, and second, you don't have to watch the local segments (they're never quite as good as the national portion). Another is you don't have to constantly see the phone numbers at the bottom of the screen, taking up to 1/3 of the screen.
What's your opinion, and why IS it that more local stations are cutting back on the coverage?
