Me TV to go national

"Six is News"? Wonder if they got that from "Eight is News", with the G in the style of an 8, one of sister station WJW/8's earlier slogans.

I wonder when WJW will start promoting "Antenna TV", since still sister Local TV Fox outlet WITI is now doing so.

And I still wonder where "Me-TV" lands here.

[WITI has] put a link to it on their Facebook page. Here's the story:

http://northwest.fox6now.com/content/witi-tv-62-announces-launch-new-network-antenna-tv

And Milwaukee TV fans of a certain age will like the new logo for 6.2.

One intriguing point from the article:

The network will also be available on Time Warner...

...which debunks the fact that Antenna TV would be an antenna-only network.

Subchannels are often carried on the digital tier of local cable channels, albeit as a feed of the local affiliate.

Wouldnt WUAB-43 also be an option, seeing that they already have This-TV on 43.2..Though 55 would be a reasonable possibility as well..Watch them do something unexpected, like put it on 3 or 5..

I don't see WUAB stacking it alongside This TV.

3 and 5 are a chance if Gannett or Scripps signs up a package deal with Me-TV, but I believe there are some RTV affiliates in both chains in other cities...

It could have been inspired by another station's branding. Personally, I didn't like the FOX is Six/Six is News combo. It seemed awkward. It didn't last too long ... maybe a year or two. I'm pretty sure WITI-TV was going by the more traditional "FOX 6" branding by the time the Packers won the Super Bowl (January 1997).

Still no market announcements, but here is the schedule in grid form:

http://www.metvnetwork.com/metv_schedule.pdf

January's gonna be good with MeTV and Antenna TV. Good riddance, TV Land.

I can't wait to see the stunts they do - being totally nationalized (unlike RTV), they can air marathons, tributes, etc. I believe they do a lot of that in Chicago. Can't wait! Weigel has been successful getting thisTV available nationwide, so I hope they can do the same for MeTV.

Nice schedule........Antenna TV has a pretty good one as well.

Are these "national" sub-channels becoming the new SUPER STATIONS of the New millennium?

I think the answer is YES!!!

Me-TV is set to launch Wednesday? So the Sitcoms Online article linked here says.

Where? How do you launch nationally with no affiliates lined up?

GOOD POINT. Some on here think RTV is having a heart attack, but Me TV is only in 3 cities (Chicago, Milwaukee, South Bend).......a mere fly on the wall compared to RTV. Hopefully ME will be
able to expand. Wikipedia says they start national on Dec. 15.

Me Tv is from the same folks as This Tv (widely seen) so the future outlook seems good for them.

EXACTLY! Sitcoms Online said affiliates should be announced in the next couple of weeks, and that was last week. Maybe that is why the launch date was pushed back?

I wish they could secure deals with major broadcast companies .... I believe This TV (the upcoming network's sister station) launched on Tribune stations, correct? They already had clearance with a major company in major markets at their launch, which helps greatly. Even some sort of deal with a company like Media General or Hearst would be good.

I think it's safe to say Me-TV won't be on any Tribune stations, as they are launching the similar Antenna TV on Jan. 1st on their affiliates.

Well I had much rather have Me-TV than THIS-TV.........it's 95% better!!!
I've also looked at the Me-Two and it looks good as well.

Here's my thoughts........is it possible Antenna TV took a look at how well Me-TV
looked and really copied/stole the concept from Me-TV? That's what it looks like to
me. Not knocking Antenna TV, but they seem to be working from the Me-TV model.

I believe they got the idea of Antenna TV from both This TV & MeTV. This TV is mostly movies, while MeTV is all classic TV shows. When Tribune decided to create Antenna TV, they got the national rights to the Sony library, while Weigel only had the Chicago rights to the Sony library. So when Weigel decided to make MeTV national, they couldn't include any programming from the Sony library. That means no Married With Children, All In The Family, Sanford & Son, Maude, The Partridge Family, Good Times, The Nanny, he Three Stooges, & The Burns & Allen Show (though I haven't seen this one in a while) on the national channel. It's possible these same shows might stay on the local MeTV (if MeToo becomes the local MeTV in Chicago). Weigel gets their programming from 20th Cenrury Fox & CBS library. So most of the shows that currently air on the Chicago MeTV will still be available to MeTV.

I just wish the best for Me TV. I think Me and Antenna TV can really give Retro TV a run for it's
money. Perhaps, this will make RTV get up off the couch and try to improve. They should already
be in the process of getting new shows! How long does RTV plan to run these same wornout shows in
the same old tired schedule?

Let's tap the brakes on how great this schedule is for a bit. I LOVE the schedule, but much of it will have to be pre-empted in many markets. In the DFW area, it is HEAVILY duplicated by KFWD-TV. Granted, they could get on KFWD's subchannel, but I'm not sure what the point would be to have the main and subchannel running basically the same shows at different times.

I don't think it will be pre-empted anywhere. Antenna TV will not be pre-empting anything and some of their shows air on locals (MWC airs on CW Plus, Nanny is in syndication in some places, etc).

It's just like how Earl airs on ION and locals also, no different.

It would be like the "marathons" of the same shows the cable channels run....just on subchannels.

The Nanny is on Nick at Nite almost every night.
