ME-TV Toons

Weigel definitely seems to making a bigger effort to get Me TV Toons on nationwide than any of their other networks since the original Me TV.

Some of it is that it's actually a really good product. Stuff that's been largely unavailable for a very long time but which people have a very strong nostalgic connection to. Despite being "the RabbitEars guy," the last time I watched linear TV besides breaking news (Baltimore bridge collapse, earthquake in Japan) was at least a year ago, and I'm interested in MeTV Toons.

It's pretty straight-forward to sell a good and unique product, I think.

Does anyone know what is going on with Orlando. The website only shows Philo and Frdnly as the only options but it is listed on Rabbit ears as being available on an antenna.

Trip posted it to RabbitEars. I don't think he would have done that if there wasn't reason to believe it was true.
He says it will be physical channel 3.3 and display channel 11.1 (WOME-LD).

And Catchy Comedy as well.
Agreed. While the streaming version I have on Frndly is great for the most part, occasionally some shows or episodes can’t be streamed due to music licensing rights and are only available over the air. That’s why I wish we could get an affiliate in Memphis.

And also Dabl. Given the large African-American population in Memphis it makes no sense that we don’t have an affiliate. What’s even stranger is that Frndly still hasn’t picked it up when they have all the other Weigel channels. Philo finally got it so I subscribed to it hopefully temporarily. Usually when a Weigel network goes streaming, both Philo and Frndly get it at the same time. I don’t know why only Philo got it this time.

And what’s really crazy is this new Outlaw channel is now on about 5 or 6 different stations in Memphis. And I have 0 interest in it.

And now This TV is gone from 5.6 and they are advertising that the new Dare network will be coming to it in July.

It's not the only oddity on the official list. Makes me wonder if some other deal has come along since I was provided with my information, such that they're now uncertain.

Thanks, hopefully if there is an issue it gets resolved by launch date. Also has anyone heard about if it will be coming to comcast/xfinity. My friend wants to watch the channel but does not want to buy an antenna just for one channel.

I knew that MeTVToons wasn't going to be cleared in West Michigan MeTV is on WLLA DT64.2 which is on Spectrum channel 194 in Kazoo.

Apparently some stations have started running a Sizzle Reel for MeTV Toons.
WBBJ 7.5 in Jackson, TN is showing that now. It's surprising how fast WBBJ picked it up. It was 9 years before they picked up the main Me TV channel full time using the excuse they didn't have enough bandwidth and used it only as filler for the CBS subchannel. I know in other threads that Trip and/or Fybush said it was because of contractual obligations, but I think they used it as a convenient excuse to do nothing for even longer.

When I lived in Northern Iowa for awhile channel 9 which was ABC had 6 sub channels but when they picked up the CW for one of the sub channels they got rid of 3 sub channels just for the CW.

Now I realize that’s sufficient for this programming considering the bulk of cartoons that will be aired were made specifically for television and it’s unlikely they would be rescanned in HD. It’s possible the original source is not a high quality source. The Bugs Bunny episodes that MeTV runs on Saturday morning are widescreen and HD and they look great.
In the sixties and seventies (and I think well into the eighties) the shows were all shot and post-produced on 35mm film, which means that where the original film still exists the shows could be remastered in HD fairly easily. That said, I read years ago that the original film versions of almost all Filmation programs (ie, "He-Man" and "She-Ra") were discarded decades ago when the the company was sold -- all that remained with PAL videotape masters. The exception to that is the animated "Star Trek" series.

Well, they added it in HD. Running 3 HDs is pushing things, especially when one of them is ABC which has sports. (And now CW has some sports as well.)

WTME in Memphis does not have 35.6 added yet. It also does not have 35.3 either but now has 35.4 and 35.5. 35.4 is France24 and 35.5 is NASA, which are both disappointing. I’m just really hoping 35.3 is another Weigel network, hopefully Dabl or maybe Catchy.

Will Dare come to 7.2 WHDH since they had This TV?
