Me-TV Winter Schedule has Bewitched, Jeannie

Check it out and discuss:

I'm getting kind of tired of Bob Newhart, Mary Tyler Moore, and Dick Van Dyke in primetime. Would rather them have brought Taxi back than Odd Couple. Bewitched and Jeannie are nice additions, especially since they aren't on cable, but the rest of the evening schedule I probably won't watch because I'm kind of tired of it.

I prefer Antenna TV's scheduling more with the double episodes. Me-TV should air back to back episodes more often and just rotate their shows more.

I never thought that Weigel would finally have access to the Sony library on a national level. Now if they could get some of the shows that they used to air on MeTV (like when it was just in Chicago), it would make it look like MeTV before going national (except now, it includes drama, whereas when it was just in Chicago, MeTV was comedy only).

I like that Me-TV in Chicago aired 80s sitcoms, too. The national Me-TV, with the exception of Cheers, really hasn't warmed up to anything from that decade.

Funny thing about the Sony library is that I thought Antenna TV had it locked up.

Warner must not be interested in making its library available to any of these networks.

There needs to be a way for ME TV to be able to expand its library. No one can watch Dick Van Dyke ALL THE TIME! How about It Takes a Thief, or Mod Squad, or the old Frank Converse NYPD or even some great comedies from that era other than Dick Van Dyke every night.

I believe that "Bewitched" and "I Dream of Jeannie" are syndicated by The Program Exchange. So even though they are Sony Pictures programs, the distribution is handled differently.

I really like MTM and The Bob Newhart Show on Me. Not tiring at all. Two of the best sitcoms of the 70's.

Anyone get RFTD? They also show both series, but their video quality is poor. And the rest of their programming is well, how do I say...boring.

I get it on Dish....the volume levels are so low that I have to turn my TV up awfully high. No complaints, though, as they air "Newhart" - a show I have seen very little of as I don't remember its original run and it has not been in syndication much at all in recent years.

I get it OTA from a local affiliate, but I have the same problem. The volume levels are extremely low.
Have to crank my set up to 11 (which makes for a rude surprise if somebody else comes in and flips it
back over to the dish without checking first!)

Me TV has Fox owned shows (Including MASH) except for WKRP, which is on Antenna TV. Is there some kind of difference there?

No local station in my area has ever carried syndicated reruns of Newhart, and when it's been on cable anywhere it hasn't lasted for long. I don't get Rural TV on Charter so I can't see it there. I wish either Me TV or Antenna TV would pick it up.

Does your cable company carry Family Net? They air Newhart at 530pm and repeat it at 930pm.

I would like to see Me-TV air “The Incredible Hulk”…”Run for Your Life” ….”The Man from U.N.C.L.E”…..”The Adventures of Superman:…"McHale's Navy" just to name a few.

No they don't carry Family Net either. But isn't that being absorbed into Rural TV in the near future?

Glad to see Remington Steele go. Also glad that Dick Van Dyke has been moved to a later time slot. MTM and Bob Newhart are OK, but they should probably give them a rest for a while.

I think this thread proves that retro tv is alive and well. There certainly is a growing audience for shows from the 60's through the 80's. I predict there well be new competitition for this programming, there certainly has been for the past five+ years. However, the commercials on most of these channels are dreck. Cancer centers, drug lawsuits, electric wheelchairs. Geez, would someone out there realize that there are many healthy people that like to watch these shows, too. I call this the Price Is Right syndrome. That show attracts all demos, but watching the commercials you would think everyone was ill and over 65.

Side note: The Partridge Family was quite frank and liberal for the early 70's, most likely a reaction to All In The Family, but some of the material on this series would not be PC even today.

This isn't going to do me any good. I tried the channel that had this and got "No Signal", but that was to answer a question about letterboxing on the main channel.

I've missed one "Jeannie" episode (I think), one which I was in the middle of watching when my regular prime time network shows came on and TiVo had to delete while I was watching those to record something else.

WGN couldn't be bothered with black and white "Bewitched", though I saw some on "Screen Gems Network", a show that pretended to be a cable channel but aired hour-long shows on broadcast TV. During most of the first season, they mostly paired a "Bewitched" episode and a "Jeannie" episode with a common theme.
