Meridian sale

Maybe they will bring back Q101...Urban is just pathetic ,terrible operators!!! Soon all the stations in Meridian will be playing "Holliday":)

Could be two less commercial signals. Meridian college is getting
WKZB, a Class A licensed to Stonewall.

Not necessarily. Mississippi College operates a commercial FM - WHJT. Since WKZB is on a commercial frequency, they'll probably leave it that way.

Goodbye Urban and don't let the door hit your sorry butts on the way out! They're a disgrace and I'm glad they're gone.

Bringing back Q101 makes sense and would be a good move in my opinion. I just hope they put it back like it was and don't try to make a "new" Q101. Kiss: Don't touch it. It's not broken so don't fix it, plus having the number one and number two ethnic stations in the market will be a great seller.

I do have to wonder, though, how interesting it's going to be now that one family owns all but four commercial stations in town.

It's likely different for them because Mississippi College is a private institution, not state owned. Since MCC is a state college, they may not be able to leave it as a commercial stick.

To Jo-nathan or anyone else reading,

I may be wrong on this but I jut don't see Meridian being able to support both K-Love and Air-1 on two separate full powered sticks.

To Everyone Reading,

I wish every radio station in Meridian continued success.  This includes WMER 1390 AM and the ones getting new owners.

To The Owner(s) Of WNBN,

Hope your station will have continued success.  Hope all is well during your time of loss.  May God continue to bless you and your family.

To the New Owner(s) of WINL, WZNJ and WXAL in Demopolis Alabama,

WINL Leave the Country format alone but bring back The Southern Gospel Review with Ms. Linda Sammons.  Loved that program and enjoyed listening to it.
WZNj Change it and bring back the Soft Rock/CCM format they were best known for having.
WXAL Bring it back and give it one more run.  Try Conservative Talk and get an FM Translator counterpart for the station.  By doing that, you might stand a chance of reviving that once great station and allowing it to carry on.

Just some thoughts I wanted to share.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the University of Florida own a commercial FM station?

Yes, the University of Florida owns both a commercial 100 kw FM (WRUF, which for years was one of the heritage rock stations in the southeast - now has gone country in a market already oversaturated with the stuff) and an AM (WRUF 850 which is the news/talk AM stepsister and broadcaster of the lesser University of Florida sports).

I would think if MCC is getting the commercial license - it would behoove them to try and sell for any commercials they could, even if a limited number per hour. Would probably be more revenue coming in than fund raising, depending upon which format they choose.

Florida does and I forgot that Ole Miss also has Rebel Radio. Sorry. I guess they can keep it commercial if they choose.

Again... GOOD RIDDANCE!

I was in Meridian with my fiancee last weekend. Saw the hungry Heifer..is it good? Went to Dickey's BBQ pit..it was FINE.

I didn't get to listen much while I was in town but Meridian looks like a nice place!
sorry, know it's off topic, just..well..I'm a big guy and food came up..sooo... :)
