Merry Christmas and Happy holidays

I remember them doing that as WTFM 103.5 in Lake Success (boy am I old) they were a "beautiful music" station then, and when I heard Lake Success, I thought that it was a scenic lake somewhere upstate, lo and behold it's part of New York City (Queens) why did the FCC grant them that designation instead on NYC (beats me)
I never understood the Lake Success thing. It was originally WGLI AM and FM Babylon. Appliance store Friendly Frost bought the FM, changed the call letters to WTFM, and moved the studios and transmitter to Fresh Meadows, Queens just off the LI Expressway.
I don't think there was any connection to Lake Success, which is in Nassau County. At one time the United Nations had their headquarters in Lake Success.

That's right, I'm mistaken, it is in Nassau Co. did you know that although Belmont race track in in Nassau, that the far turn is actually in Queens? Let's see how I'm doing and I did not Google this, WGLI was 1290 and the FM was 102.3? strictly from the useless memory of JoeLouis :)

I might be getting WGLI mixed up with WBAB (maybe)

Want to wish all my fellow bloggers in here a very merry Christmas and Happy New year we'll see what happens in the new year so far as news worthy radio discussion post are concerned. Peace
You as well. I wonder if the New Year's predictions thread is open on here yet?

Hi, Thank you for this fun music. Is this song known as "aguinaldo", meaning like a Christmas carol, or a traditional holiday song? To me, it seems to translate something like, "We're bringing these sounds so that you will get up", and then they count 1-2-3, so the host will open the door. The tradition is for a group of singers to arrive at a house late a night, then the hosts wake up/ get up to let the singers in the house to start the party. -- Is that correct?

As an exchange student, I lived in Mexico, where they have a Christmas tradition called "Las Posadas". Groups of singers go from home to home, representing Joseph and Mary seeking lodging for the night to give birth to the Christ child. The home owners either reply, "Aqui no hay posada" ( there is no lodging here), or they open the door and welcome in the singers for a fiesta. There is a pinata be broken, and the children get the candy from the pinata.

The "trulla" song has a very catchy melody ! I found it on You Tube.
Feliz Navidad y Prospero Ano Nuevo.

Joe.....They are so out of it, that sometimes they do the station I.D. at :57 past the hour and sometimes at :03. They are all over the place.
There is no reason today to do the ID at exactly the same place. Besides that, there is only a legal reason to give the ID at all, and that is a total anachronism today.
They're not like KQED which hits the the post exactly at :00. No one hits the post like NPR. They are perfect, which is to their credit.
That's likely because they have actual scheduled block programs that have specific run times and schedules.
Even KBAY with Bobby Bones in the morning does I.D. at :59 or :01. But not Audacy. They don't care. ( Grumble, grumble). LOL.
And Bobby Bones is a network / syndicated show, so it tends to be a bit more conscious of the hour's "structure", while pure local music stations have no need to be precise, particularly on a program element that is non-productive and extraneous.

Thanks, David. I thought that stations were required to do the I.D. every 30 minutes, on the hour and half-hour. Now that I understand that's not required, I won't talk about I.D. times any more. - D.

Audacy still doesn't realize that the people who listen to 1010 WINS New York online are unable to listen to that station's legal ID at :59 because it is too close to the ad break.

I think Marcos, that they should change their name from Audacy to Idiocy, why not? they change their name every year or so anyway.
No, they have changed the name once. Back in the 80's when they asked me to manage KBRG in San Francisco, they were Entercom. And that was what they were called until the adopted the new name recently.

And who cares when they give the ID? Were it allowed, we would not do the "legal ID" ever.

From Wikipedia, I learned that Entercom acquired CBS radio, including radio.com , in 2017. Perhaps that is why, to listeners, it may seem like multiple name changes. JMO.
