Recently, the station dropped Jerry Springer to pick up Stephanie Miller (even though WINZ had taken Jerry directly from Clear Channel before Springer made a distribution deal with AAR).Jim DeFede Joins WINZ/Miami For Mornings
CBS O&O WFOR-TV (CBS4)/MIAMI commentator and former MIAMI HERALD and MIAMI NEW TIMES columnist JIM DEFEDE is joining CLEAR CHANNEL Talk WINZ-A/MIAMI as morning host, starting JULY 24. DEFEDE was fired by the HERALD in a controversial move after he admitted tape-recording a call from a local politician who later committed suicide in the paper's lobby, a firing that drew widespread opposition from journalists nationwide.
The HERALD reports that DEFEDE is also starting a column in LRM (LIVING REAL MIAMI) MAGAZINE (formerly LINCOLN ROAD MAGAZINE), starting in the SEPTEMBER issue, and will remain on CBS4's staff.
