Note to programmers/consultants/owners: THINK OUTSIDE THE PHILLY AREA! Hire a talent that doesn't have more Philly miles on him/her than an '84 Yugo! There are so many really good jocks that could/would light up the airwaves in Philly. Jim Zippo is currently "on the beach" and does a helluva show. Anyone tried to get Mancow? There are many others, too.

Barsky was great when he started out in Philly, he built a solid fan base, but that base decreased with each move from station to station. While Philly seems to like to keep its own I think Barsky's tenure in the town is over. He would be better off trying to start over somewhere in Florida where he has a shot of sounding new and fresh again, if he even still has an interest in doing radio at all.<P ID="edit"><FONT class="small">Edited by MattB on 08/11/05 04:28 PM.</FONT></P>

Actually, I'd say that Philly's reliance on the same local personalities have helped ward off more syndication.
I wonder if Stern's departure is tempting Grease to syndicate in more markets? It makes good business sense to do so (but he probably won't work in Philly again).

Barsky & Chio should team up and syndicate "The Has-Beens Radio Program." No one would air it but the eight or nine people who'd want to hear it could download it as a Podcast every morning while they make their pot of coffee.

Philly has never really been a market that's part of the radio circus that exists everywhere else. Hell even program directors that come in from other markets never seem to last.
If you take root in this city the listeners notice and you last. It is not like any other major market.

Actually Vinnie has a off-air gig smart guy. He is the in-stadium announcer for the Philadelphia Barrage. the Barrage are the pro outdoor lacrosse team who play at Villanova stadium.
