Curious to know why you think Ingrams days are numbered.
OKCRadioGuy said:I don't know about her days being numbered, but she's pretty horrid on and OFF the microphone. She's certainly a back-east uppity full-of-herself broadcaster. Mike Medved is another one like that. Savage is, quite frankly, so damn smart he's insane. You guys do realize this dude has three houses in SanFranSicko that he may broadcast from don't you? If the neighbors are cooking the wrong thing nextdoor and he doesn't like the smell or whatever, it's off to the next house. The only way the TRN board op knows where the freak will broadcast from is round-robining the ISDN numbers until they hear him. Does anyone else remember about 5 or so years ago when Savage went off on his board op before he was supposed to be on the air, and the board op had him potted up live on the air cussing over the intro bed? I sure wished I still had a copy of that one. It was too damn funny!

CinnamonToast said:I'd like to hear Hugh Hewitt on air in Dallas again. He was a better fit for KSKY than the increasingly RINO/moderate, egotistical Medved. If you think Savage is nuts now, I'm pretty sure Medved will have him beat in a year or so.
I also wouldn't mind some better options during morning drive. KLIF doesn't come in anywhere in my house, so while getting ready, I have to choose between sonorous Bill Bennett, Kraddick's awful music, or Hal Jay (whose voice and crotchetiness drive me absolutely crazy). I would sometimes switch to Jagger in desperation, hoping they would be talking pop culture and not sports, but that won't be an option after tomorrow.
Will I have to listen to Russ??? Please let there be another answer!![]()

I'd see it as a bad idea to touch WBAP.
If its not broken, do not fix it.
Krok would ruin 'BAP.

1. No talk station that has them voluntarily let go of Rush or Hannity and Mark Levin recently signed a long-term contract with WBAP.
2. Is there any evidence of a Cumulus property spending MORE money on local talent?
3. I'm leery of the coming Cumulus Dickey brother, considering their track record, messing with WBAP's long-ime winner but expensive AM drive show and Mark Davis' show.
4. I have no experience working for the Dickeys but Cumulus is by far the most disliked radio group in the country. How many lawsuits are they facing? How many more tricks can they do with their staggering corporate debt?
5. Thank goodness they're at least smart enough to mess too much with "The Ticket" but I hear their hosts dissing the company about being cheap on little things & big things.
6. Cumulus buying Citadel isn't going to be a positive thing for listeners.

I've heard nothing but awful things about the Dickeys too. One year from now, people will be looking at them (assuming that don't lose outright control of Cit-*** in some manner or another) and yearn for the days of Farid Suleman.
Quite frankly, stations like WBAP, WJR/Detroit, KGO and WLS/Chicago are in deep danger. WABC/NY is too far gone to make any difference - they have no local programming to speak of (the consequence of taking Hannity, Levin and Batchelor all to syndication). Their revenue is pennies in comparison to KFI/LA or WTOP/DC.
Plus most of us are assuming that Cit-*** will leave things "status quo" on WBAP, KLIF and KTCK. But I can't help but have a feeling that KTCK's sports format ultimately moves to 570, retaining with the 104.1 simulcast, and 1310 is either spun off or donated. Not that Cit-*** NEEDS to make that move, but it would make too much sense.

Talk radio must be mainly local during morning and afternoon drive. WABC's problem is not Levin, its Hannity who is on the radio afternoon drive and is even losing the ratings battle to WOR's more locally oriented Steve Malzberg show!!
WLS delays the Hannity show for local talent.
WABC needs a new PD.

Hannity was local on WABC at first before he was syndicated. Not that he would bolt if WABC decided to tape-delayed him, but that threat - as well as station loyalty to Hannity in the first place - would be a non-starter. But WOR is so much of a mess that for Malzberg to beat him... oof.
WABC needs more than a new PD. They need a new morning show (Imus: too old, not local), a new midday show (Crummy? Huh?), and go local in late evenings and overnights (bye-bye, snooze-fests Batchelor and Doug McIntrye).
In essence, blow the damn thing up. I could also say the exact same thing for "WABC South," i.e., WMAL/Washington.
None of it will ever happen, though.
