Up The Ladder To The Roof is one of my favs.
The original River Deep Mountain High, by Ike and Tina Turner, and Neil Diamond's rockin' cover are my two favs of that one.

I think that Jean(Supremes) Terrell and Levi (4 Tops) Stubbs SMOKE "River Deep" like nobody else.....
that was the biggest hit version of that song, as far as the national Pop Chart goes

Personal favorites, in no particular order:

Too Weak to Fight -- Clarence Carter
Bernadette -- Four Tops
Back Stabbers -- O'Jays
634-5789 -- Wilson Pickett
Stick Up -- Honey Cone
Black Pearl -- Sonny James & the Checkmates
Didn't I Blow Your Mind This Time -- Delfonics
A Change Is Gonna Come -- Sam Cooke
Let's Go, Let's Go, Let's Go -- Hank Ballard & the Midnighters
Let's Get It On -- Marvin Gaye
If I Could Build My World Around You -- Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell

I could listen to these anytime:

Mama Didn't Lie--Jan Bradley
Harlem Shuffle--Bob & Earl
Sally Go Round The Roses--Jaynettes
Come & Get These Memories--Martha & Vandellas
Funky Broadway--Wilson Pickett
We've Got More Soul--Dyke & the Blazers
Shake Me, Wake Me--Four Tops

Sonny James singing classic soul? Yikes! Make that Sonny CHARLES and the Checkmates!

(I posted the original from another computer, so can't modify it.)
