Mike Kaplan is out, The B can live again!!!

I have not been on in a while, and just decided to stop by to see what you guys are saying bout Kaplan's exit. I was excited to see my boy Duplantis on here, dropped a dime, and then one of my eyeballs actually fell out of my head as I read marconi2's post about Kaplan being a "pioneer" yes he has gone where not many other men have gone, but not in radio. I'm not here to start crap, not my style I'm more of a stirrer not starter, so I will give marconi2 the beny and say it was one of the greatest sarcastic posts I've read on here. I really do wish Mike the best and am very sorry for the people that are being invaded, but he is the 1 AND ONLY reason I left Bayou, no matter what load (pun,,, aw screw it you already knew) he delivered to management, and he is personally at fault for running off some of the best staff in N.O. and I'm so happy for the current staff at Entercom for thier new working environment.

What Up To My Peeps
Kat, Eddie, Paul, T-Pot, Stevie and a bunch of off air cats.
Maybe I'll see,,, TALK to you guys SOON

Bender! Good to see you're still around bro! How you been these days?

and he is personally at fault for running off some of the best staff in N.O.

Ditto. I agree 110%!

Sam

Mike is the reason I disappeared from a 4-year stint at B. I couldn't believe the excuse he came up with to let me go. ::) Ah well... I'm lucky enough to have had the opportunity to work with some good people at Citadel! :D

Jeremy I'm good thanks for asking, I hope you are well. It amazes me how the exit of one person can breathe life into a cluster. I will say of all the companies I worked for Entercom was the best and they appreciated talent and took time hiring new people. I was treated like a king and Entercom went out of thier way to make shure I had what I needed to do the show (THANKS DUPLANTIS) so I'm positive they will hire who they think will be the best for the position. This is a REAL chance for these stations to do good radio and I'm interested to listen to what happens.

Bender---

someone called John Roberts a pioneer on this board. John Roberts had a morning show on the B with Cheryl R (great fit) Stevie G (great fit) and Billy Brown. God awful does not fit-fit. Billy Brown was a great guy and a good jocj but perhaps on a country station. total joke of a decision. talk about being out of touch!
In my eyes, compared to J Roberts Mike K was a pioneer. Maybe not for Bayou as Classic Rock was not his deal but CHR Top 40 certainly was. He brought star power to station events, he used new technologies to incorporate the listeners, and he played artists before other PD's did. He didn't sit and wait to see what the other guys would do. Like I said, not on Bayou, which is where you were, but for B, he got ratings.

Marconi, let me clear something up real quick, I'm not taking shots at you, I just want to clear some air from a person that worked (to closely) with Mike. Ideas are not something that flow freely with this guy, just about anything he does is ripped off from other stations, other people, or his own staff. If you thought he did good things, you should have heard some of the ideas that where pitched to him that never hit the air, only because it was to widely known in the halls that it was not his idea and he knew he could not lay claim. The concepts he did come up with were tweaked by jocks and promotions to becaome something better or those people would finish his incomplete thought for him. I don't diss-like Mike personally, but professionally, we will never agree. Real quick, the days of sitting around listening to music looking to break songs are long over, you play what the labels want you to play, and if your on something early, there is something in it for you or your station, and that's real.

hey bender,

no need to let me know that you are not taking shots at me. i value opinions and that is why i post. i would never take offense. i also would never claim to begin to know what your working relationship was like with mike. i took up for mike because many people took shots at him for whatever reasons and also because of the position he is in. if your pd over 2 station regardless of what kind of job you do our always going to have people bitch about what a crappy job you did. becuase it wasn't their way or because that they were let go. i felt like mike k was much stronger than john r. i cannot comment about if he mistreated you. when i found out you left bayou i heard it was cause mike was a pain about some stuff. i don't agree with everything mike did by any means. but, for b he did a good job. if he treated you bad that is bs cause your show was awesome and unique. now, when you comin back to bayou??? how bout it?

Not until Gustov, I don't want to broadcast from temp studios on the Westbank. I appreaciate your comments about my show, no matter what that is the one thing any jock should and can take pride in, if your on the air you have the ability and obligation to entertain, many forget that, and you can always tell very easy. If a jock refers to thier slot as thier "shift" and not "show" then they are probably going through the motions, no phones, no prep, no bits, no planning, and then complain because they are banking 20 or 30k a year, you get what you pay for right. I have no idea if Bayou is even interested in me coming back. I left on good terms, worked well past my resignation date and the ONLY reason I departed and would not return was Kaplan, now he is gone, and what happens now remains to be seen. I do miss New Orleans, I get down there a lot with my kids, and miss being on Bayou. I would love to work with my girl KAT and Eddie and my boy, he knows who he is. But again, thanks for the Kudos on what I do on the air, thanks in a thankless job is always nice.
