Mix 102-9 purse promotion

HA!!!! We used to call those "Sit-n-Spin"s, circa 1975. I believe Woolco and Gibson's sold them for less than $10, not $57.99 as Amazon wants. Nothing like making the kiddoes dizzy...keeps them quiet while the "Blues Clues" DVD is resetting itself.

Yeah Amazon has some S'N'S products too. I picked the one I linked to specifically because of the manufacturer's name, the product's name and the price. I’m trying to send a subliminal message, if you catch my drift. ;)

If you don't believe Lisa Thomas is live and local just pick up the phone and give her a ring at 214 or 817-787-1029. She's been here for 15 years. ;D

I was working at Mix when the purse promotion started and the response was huge. Actually, even the men were into it because they knew how much their wives (or whoever) would love it. No, not all men appreciated it, but for the target demo, it was a riot.
I think it's funny that you guys are griping about not being recognized, when radio has primarily targeted MEN forever. Especially rock radio. I've been in on meetings at rock stations where the PD has out-right said, "It will turn off women, but who cares. They'll listen because they have nowhere else to go." Women have had to listen to T & A talk for ages if they want to hear a rock station. I'm not trying to start some big debate, but it's always been lopsided.

Hmmm...I'm a guy and years ago when I was in middle/high school I liked alternative rock radio. Now I'm more of a hot AC/smooth jazz kind of person although I will listen to just about anything. Rock is just ok - it's not that spectacular anymore, at least for me.

I think it's funny how PD's assume women like a certain music genre. My own experience tells me women have just as many musical tastes as men. For example, some PD's claim women are the prime target for the all-Christmas format, but I personally know some women hate it! I wish PD's would quit concentrating on format appeal versus gender.

Sorry, I didn't mean for the topic to skew that direction...my original point was that it just sounds like a strange, weird (and borderline dumb and silly!) contest. But I guess if it gets attention, the station's done its job.

Well now we heard from someone who worked in promotions at the Mix and one who aged a little and prefer s the "hot ac". To me they are connected to that station so I have to shelve their remarks as being biased.
To me the promotion is cheap.I don't care about the name brand appeal, its still cheap, and it signifies how radio has become. The VT during the day in market 5 is the biggest insult to the listener ever. You must be an accountant to be a PD anymore, and one wonders why the Ipod isused more and more.

What???? You mean I've missed countless assemblies and field trips with my daughter for nothing?!!!! Someone must have forgotten to notify me! HaHa! I've been live on Mix for over 15 years! Hey, if I weren't working for Mix, I would SO be trying to win the Tory Burch today!

Yes :(

Shame on you, since your daughter will only be young once.

Over 15 years... and you started when you were 16, right Lisa? ;)

Keep up the good work!

So Andy, does that mean that you stayed home with your kids?

OK, so how many shifts on Mix are voicetracked? I know that PM drive used to be (and may still be)...and we know that down the hall, Kiss is tracking middays....I believe that the last time I was in the building at night, Kiss and the Eagle (still Spanish back then) were the only CC stations with jocks in the studio...

Who said anything about staying home? We’re talking about field trips & assemblies that your child is participating in, not staying home playing hooky.

Andy

I was advised by PM that KDMX is live in everything but overnights..I am surprised that CC would backtrack on how many KDMX shifts are tracked (nights used to be, and PM drive was too at one time)...

So a thumbs-up to KDMX on that.

I don't mind overnight tracking, but doing it in other shifts is pretty ridiculous in a Top 10 market..

the purse promotion has been done all over the country. if your station is targeting females, why not? females like the idea of getting their hands on designer handbags.
