MIX 106.7

Dave Russell, just let go from WARM would be a good fit. He knows most of the people already on the MIX staff. OH..wait a minute! He worked for Citadel in Allentown......I don't think he'd wanna go there...but you never know.

Mix has a great staff. There's value to having a couple guys.....Rick & John.....who made major noise in the market with the growth of WARM. Listeners like familiarity....in music and personalities. Diane Gray is very talented and holds her own very well.

Right now, the station is "Classic Hits"..not A/C. Saw some gains in Lancaster this book. No impact in York and very little in Harrisburg. Need to carve out a position....but with WARM, Rose, and Wink already established in A/C, that's going to be very difficult. But what a signal!!

York and Lancaster listeners know Rick & John very well. But how many people really know that they're even on the radio in the area?

Yes Mix 1067 does have some nice talent that have found a new home. Rick and John they are a staple in the central PA market for 20+ years and Diane Grey is also a pleasant air talent herself.

and they have them also have them working weekends mixed in with some new sounding talent on sat night and sun night. and I have to agree with seltzer ...

what a signal! and I think with a little tweak hear or there they could easily move some of those numbers in hbg/york

I agree with you seltzer... we will see what the new pd thinks about the entire staff and there "talent worth" for moving the numbers in the HBG/York area's

But at least for the short-term the staff at mix 1067 is pretty solid... with rick and diane in mornings and john in the afternoons. And getting them to come in on weekends and work single air shifts by themselves with the new talent is on sat nights and another new talent on sun nights.

that pd does at least have some solid talent and numbers and like I posted earlier I believe with a little shift here and there I think they can improve the HBG/York numbers for the next book ..... but who knows hell mix might not even be looking for a new PD I haven't seen anything posted on any job boards or websites.

One change to the AC landscape in the market has been the dropping of DELILAH by The Rose. Would this be a factor in any changes that might occur. Would a new PD at MIX look at this...or would WARM go after her? Then again...DELILAH could be a non-factor at this point. I still heard a lot of women listening to her in shops and offices, but the problem is that the music is softer on her show than most of her affiliates are during the day. Any thoughts?

My guess is...and it's only a guess.....WARM stays with John Tesh.

But the York mafia may have other thoughts.

Delilah wouldn't fit Mix at all right now.

She'd be a good fit for WQIC in Lebanon.

WARM sill stay with tesh... the music she plays is TOO SOFT..... wouldn't work anywhere around here. So, the pd would just for the short term just work with what (he/she) has on staff currently.

And if mix is looking to "mix it up" she wouldn't be the way to go at all.

Personally I think they should just for the short term just worry about moving those number and less about what kinda people are going to get fired or what kinda shows that mix should bring.

Like I posted earlier... I think the talent there during the week and the new weekenders they have on sat and sun nights is fine the numbers in lancaster prove that point there issue is just tweaking the music here and there.

Yes..if I'm Mix, I would really be encouraged by those Lancaster numbers. I would really put my marketing focus there right now and try to grow them even more. If it's an organization or event in Lancaster, I would fight hard to be a part of it.

MIX's tower is located in Lancaster County (Elizabethtown)....the signal is very strong over much of that market...but still some 19 miles out of center city Lancaster.

Does the signal penetrate buildings in downtown Lancaster? My guess is yes.
Signal would not be an issue to compete for workplace listeners.

The ONLY format Delilah fits is for the listener who has a life worse than anyone sitting at home playing with the computer...or themselves.
There was a niche to be filled for people living a pathetic existence, and she fills it with TOTAL SAP. Goes to show you, with the right marketing and BS, someone, somewhere will listen. and LOVE IT! There's a market for just about anything out there. SHAM-WOW!
Oh hang on, my next caller is little Johnny Love who's main squeeze, Sally Whey left him to join the circus to be a sword swallower...here's Pablo Cruise - Love Will Find A Way.

This would cost money, so it ain't gonna happen. That signal may be the single best stick in the market. I wonder what a "New Jersey 101.5"-type format would do? Essentially a full-service FM with some talk and some music.

You know.....if you wanted a station/format that would get you great #s in all 3 towns, that would be the way to go. Talk during the week and music on the weekends.

You have the state capitol and Uncle Ed for content and the goings on throughout the region as well. I don't think you'd suffer from a lack of content.

But yes.....it would cost $$$$. And I doubt Citadel would put the resources toward it. The only way is with cutbacks at the other stations.

Haven't really thought too much about these two. Last time I listened to WLBR, I thought their audio chain could use some work. For what they're supposed to be..a local radio station only concerned with it's county..they do a pretty decent job. Actually cover local news for their area. Phillies..can't go wrong there and lots of high school sports. Penn State. Accu Weather.

As far as WQIC goes, they are the closest to being a real mainstream A/C these days. Their music is pretty decent.....current artists but still depth in their playlist from a decade standpoint. Some of the talent could use some direction. Imaging could be updated. Of course, at night and on weekends, things are a little different with auto racing and Hershey Bears. But nights and weekends on many A/C stations tend to be throwaway times so why not make $$$$ running sports. Especially in a smaller community.

Neither station is all that concerned on how it fares in the Arbitron ratings. And QIC doesn't have the greatest signal in the world.

WQIC TURNED DOWN their power increase! Back in the '80's, I think, most Class A FM's were offered a chance to upgrade from 3kw to 6kw, much like the graveyard AM stations were all allowed to go from 250 to 1000 at night in the early '80's. It was a "do it now or never" type thing. WQIC said "no thank you"!!! Unreal. Think what that could do up on 15's stick on Mt. Gretna!

I would not be a bit surprised to find a stock Audimax/Volumax on WLBR---sure sounds like it!
