Suddenly it is nonstop Mardi Gras music. HMMMMM Me thinks there is something going down. No more auto tune...whip out your geeetars!!!!!!!!!

I didn't hear the last song they played as Mix, but a friend of mine heard it. She said she was listening when she heard "Need You Now" by Lady Antebellum get cut off for New Orleans second line music.

At 4:00pm CST, I heard the station debut as Rock 92-3.

I think ive heard more new music on Rock 92.3 in the last hour than 104.1 played in its last year of existance. The station even has a different sound than 93.7 even being both programmed by Jason Ginty. Baton Rouge gets to hear two Ginty programmed rock stations.

Ugh...commercials on the day a new station starts? Just give me my 10,000 songs in a row or whatever!

Apparently they are trying to add music as a lot of it seems to be from the mix 92.3 playlist and too many mistakes are being played... not a very good flip for sure.

If Ginty is behind this, I would figure a playlist close to KRDJ with maybe a few more alt rockers once they get the bugs worked out. I know 104.1 had he same flip issues for a few days after it's flip with repeats for days etc.

Ginty is still PD at the new station, or so says his facebook page.

As was explained to me by a veteran PD one time: Its common for new 'currents' based stations to start with a truncated playlist of the top hits in a super heavy rotation. The thought process is you can catch new listeners who may be scanning the dial for a song they 'currently' like. The opposite is true of non currents based stations. They will start with a playlist full of 'wow, havent heard that in a while' songs, then narrow it down to a few hundred songs on some kind of rotating music schedule.

How long do they plan to have the rock923neworleans.com website down for?!

musicfan101,
Never fuss against the commercials. They pay for the music!
:)
Thank God we have New Rock again. However long it takes for them to clean up the playlist...

They need to clean up the audio!

Their music is off. It's not Alternative. It's not Active Rock. There's too much Poppy Alternative and too much unfamiliar music. No title/artist identifiers. I know it's 30 Seconds to Mars "This Is War", but when the song has never been played in this market, how much of the available audience knows?

Why are they running liners for the web site when it's not up?

Let's see what their plans are and if Citadel can pull it off, put out a decent product and sell it. Any word on Mornings or Jocks?

I dont know but I left in on all day just to see what is played. Its not any better. Sounds like Mix 92.3 with some rock thrown in and no teen pop..awful at this point!

I agree on some of the pop alternative but apparently trying to be an alternative in the begining but been monitoring the facebook of rock 92.3 and most are wanting a Active Rocker. Playlist is still being refined but yeah waiting to see which way they roll but consensus of people I know I've talked to basically say it's already better than what 104 ever had out in the market.

For the "This is War" comment, people do a lot of streaming and that includes me, and with 104 pushing people to the I heart app, Many who have phones stream it there.

For those looking for ideas : http://www.facebook.com/pages/Rock923/134106619958884 is the page I've been monitoring on what's going on with promises of live and local

Just curious if they are gonna do something with 106.1 or not. Figure they could flip that to Mix and aim it to where I figure mix was more popular on the northshore

Sorry, I have to disagree with ya'll - so far, they have done great. I travel around the south and this is what I hear in Hattiesburg ("The Fox Rocks"), Pensacola (TK101 Rocks), Planet in Lafayette, as well as in Houston, Austin, & Dallas. I NEVER listened to 104-1 as they just didn't get it at all - and I primarily listen to new/alt rock.
I did see that they have retained Stacey Brady but don't know about Mike Theis (please put him somewhere else as he would not fit).
I am sure they will eventually add dj's but hopefully no morning rambling. Nick & Drew on Rock 93.7 keep talk at a minimum with a decent amount of music.
I had them strong in Baton Rouge today, which is pretty sad for 104 the X - I used to listen between the two frequencies but not since they are on 104.9 only.
If they advertise, they could only rise in ratings from the barely 1 share they have had for the past few years.
