My take on Mix 98.5?When Star 93.7 went away, it appears that Mix made a strategic mistake. They figured they could inherit the old Star audience...and brought in the Star PD (McKenna) and some Star personalities (LAdy Di, Fast Freddy, etc.)The numbers have been going downhill ever since. It appears with every trend they are in worse and worse shape! Not only did they not benefit from any orpahned star listeners...but they lost a lot of their core listeners as well.If you look at the Star P1's and the old Mix P1's...I don't think they would fit together at a party....or even in the same waiting room.McKenna is not a seasoned programmer. He has little experience....and most of it from one format style. Lady Di, while a jock(ette) who has made a name for herself....probably isn't what the typical MIX listener is looking for. (I would say she is too closely associated with Star, Jamn and Kiss)And, most of all.....there is much too much TALK on that station. Greg Danials (a pretty good Jock), gabs, gabs, gabs! About too much of nothing! If they are going to be perosnality driven...their jocks need better content, etc.If they are going to be music intensive...they need to clamp down on the jocks a bit. (Kiss 108 has jocks, but they never get in the way of appearing to be playing a TON of music.)BAck to the origianl question....about what kind of company are they??? How long will it take for them to realize they are on the wrong track? The longer it takes, the worse the reputation.I remember a year or so ago....Greg Danials was #1 in Women, adults, etc.I believe the last trend had hiom 16th?(And in 22nd place in the isolated month.)Something is worng at this radio station.A little wear and tear on the format is expected from time to time...but from 1st place to 22nd? Just my $.02......your milage may vary.
