Mix Nights

Anybody have any word on whose taking nights over after Lady D's exit last month?

I had been hearing Deirdre Dagata and, prior to his FNX gig, Adam 12 (as Halloran) in the slot.

Anything official? Their site doesn't have a nights person listed currently

Thats a blast from the past! Where has she been these days? Last I heard her she was doing weekends and a fill-in at Kiss.

She's been doing weekends/fill-ins at Mix for quite a while. Every once in a while you'll hear her on 103.3 also.

I hope that they get Deirdre in this position full time. She's a great on air personality, and I really enjoy listening to her.

Is she local...or VT-ing it from out of town?

Local, I don't think any of the CBS stations have had people VTing from out of town. I'm not counting the syndicated Tom Kent show that was on WODS, since that was live, just not local.

As far as I know, she's local--I've heard she consistently answers phones live during her shifts.

She really is an amazing personality on the air and she has bounced all over the place on the dial, I hope she gets the nod full time.

So Lady D gets canned...and there's just another person in there? Nothing against Ms. Dagata, but Christ, Diana, take the frickin' pay cut. It's radio. The money is gone.

And CC can get (expletived) for getting rid of her in the first place. I saw them post an ad for somebody for their Spanish station like a month after she got downsized..hey morons, how about offering to teach her Spanish instead of reducing her salary? I'm all about capitalism, but I'm not about greed. Take care of your people.

What a goofy industry you people have. Me wanting to do what you guys do when I was in high school = mental illness.

Serious question: Who runs your union? Do you have the dumbest person in organized labor running AFTRA? Seriously? Come on. GM remained relevant for another 15 years because of unions. Hire their guy to handle your affairs.

You are assuming she was given the choice...

Mix doesn't VT any shifts.

DOn't claim that as a badge of honor...because Mix just lets the shifts go unmanned (I think that's worse)

While we all detest the trend towards voicetracking, I would say stations that run jockless during shifts (segue-city) is worse than having a jock voicetrack.

You are also assuming that the station is a union shop.
Maybe it is, maybe it's not - I don't know about that
station, specifically...I have have been involved in
union shops, as well as non-union shops. Like many things in
life, unions can cut both ways, good and bad...

I don't recall claiming the fact as a badge of honor. I was simply relaying a fact regarding the subject of Mix VT'ing that, or any, shift. Also, Mix doesn't have any "unmanned" shifts. There is a jock on-air or a board-op in-studio 24/7, 365. Again, not that any of this is "badge of honor" material, just clarifications for our discussion.

...point taken.

To a listener, a shift is vacant when a "board-op" is on.

Unions, in general (not just broadcasting...) no longer have the
clout that they once had. A much smaller percentage of
American workers are unionized, than they were back in the day.
Yea, a union can protect you - but only up to a point. In a down
economy, there are many, many potential people who will take
a given job, for less money than the current person is making.
EVERYONE - from the CEO to the janitor - is expendable, and can
be quickly replaced. There's the door - don't slam it on your way out... :D
