Mondo & Dean on Pugs today!

This was a nice post.

Mondo and Dean were really classy when it comes to CBS.

Sounds like they are a bit afraid to comment.

I am new to this board so I will refrain from being too harsh but they were pros in this video.

They were "pros" when it came to things they actually saw...They ripped Russ, not so pro. I worked with Russ for 4 years and he was always cordial. Yeah, 99.9% of the stuff was fake...But it's radio, it's theater of the mind. Something Jagger and co. don't understand, you have to act, play it up. No one ripped Fibber McGee and Molly for their bits and shows.

Jaggers big bit - "Can Jimmy do it?" Now that's great radio (sarcasm).

Besides, after the Jagger show ended at 10am they all bolted (5 hours before Russ arrived), so how would they know what he was like? I never saw them when I was there at 3pm.

Pugs & Kelly were different. After their show, Pugs would take off as fast as possible so he could go to whatever bar his "friends" were at, and get hammered (evident of his multiple DUI's). Kelley would stick around with (sexy) Sybil and chat in their office...And Russ had Kelly on multiple times (to usually talk about her cans)...If pugs was there, rather than drinking himself stupid, maybe he would have been on once or twice. Doubt it though, Pugs held a grudge. He assumed (and was right) that management cared more about Russ than him.

For starters, Russ had ratings.

2nd, he wasn't forced on the station...If you remember, the ONLY reason Pugs & Kelly were even on in Dallas was because of the law suit they filed in Chicago vs CBS. Part of their out of court settlement was that they could pick a market and have a timeslot. http://rogersroom.250x.com/texta/

Was Russ the easiest person to work for? Hell no. He demanded perfection, just like anyone who produces a good program. Does pugs demand perfection? Maybe, but if you listen(ed) to his show now, on the other AM station or on the Bone, it was weak. It lacked in a lot of areas and it's because Pugs & Kelly were friends to their producers, not bosses. You have to be a boss first and a friend later (if at all)...

It's nice to see that Trey still has his lips firmly planted on Russ' behind.

Having worked on a syndicated program with notorious a-hole(s) for for four years, I exited and felt "we did some great shows but they are complete a-holes." Somebody you would never truly be close to despite working alongside for years.

I could care less if 100 percent of Russ' show was fake all that matters is whether is was entertaining. In the beginning yes, towards the end..sometimes. Whether he wants to behave like an a-hole is his choice so I just don't understand DFWRadio's argument. It sounds like you worked for him for four years and he was difficult to be around during that time. Yes he had ratings but despite those ratings, CBS still yanked him. So be it..why do you still like/respect him today when he probably couldn't give a crap about you? I It's not the end of the world whether he returns or not..it's just a show with a large local audience that apparently nobody wants to work for unless they have no other options or just simply don't know any better. You sound like somebody Russ walked all over while receiving minimal compensation...that sucks, but it happens and we've all been there in one situation or another. But, maybe it's time to put away the pom poms.

Watching the video from the Improv event gave me dejavu, and I can't quite place it - oh, wait, yes I can. It was the same stuff from the Richie Whitt article. Points for originality. I'm actually surprised they didn't toss in any wife-beater jabs - hmm, perhaps they live in a glass house. Kudos to them for being able to draw a massive crowd of 35-40 people to a free gathering at the Improv.

Nik I was thinking the same thing. A lot of what they said was a rehash of what Richie Whitt wrote last year we all know Russ was an a-hole can we move on already.
