More bad news for Radio

If it's all about the numbers (he said with a smirk), why bother broadcasting after 11 pm... ON ANY STATION? There is much less listenership, you can't sell ads AND you'd save a ton on the electric bill.

God, I wonder if the bean counters have already discussed this.

Eben is a bright young man who will bounce back fast. I wish him the best.

Why would you cut a reporter to cut costs instead of cutting evening news?

That is the next step, and it will happen sooner than most expect it to happen... and want it to happen.

Today's Taylor on Radio has an ominous note that once the new ownership structure is in place at CC they're going to want MORE cuts, immediately, possibly as soon as just after the New Year.

Happy Holidays everyone.... ;D

how about the fcc chairman's proposal to allow more consolidation in the media business to own newspapers, radio stations and tv stations in the same market. that would devastated (destroy) the whole industry.

Naturally, everyone here knows why radio is in the dumps. Jeff, the pizza metaphor is A-1.
Seems no volume of rant or vast number of mismanaged, unproductive radio stations will convince any of these conglom owners that their model ain't a prize winner.

Radio is just a commodity to be traded, bought, sold and manipulated. It's a territorial power play that has very little to do with the growth of a product and if the FCC gets just one more little ass kiss from the NAB, the giants will be able to buy anything they want and absolutely control the media.

Lowry said it himself, "my product is advertising." That, and the bottom line thinking of bean counters and Wall Street, is what drives the business.

If you are a thinker or a performer beyond the silly crap that has become the standard of text-book radio morning shows, then find a nice EBAY business.

There is a much greater plan, in case none of you watch closely what this administration
has been steamrolling as it's agenda. Call it globalization or the New World Order...it is nothing more than a collusive power alliance of corporations and government to run the world.

The United States will become part of the North American Union (already done..oops you blinked and missed it) and eventually we will succumb to a flood of illegals that will replace large numbers of Americans in the workforce. In essence, this is the reason that all sectors are moving in this direction - not just radio. But radio and TV, terrestrial or not, are still the primary sources of media for millions and CONTROL of what gets aired is important to the
plan.

Lets face it boys, those of us who lived in those halcyon days of radio, were very lucky but we will never see that again in our lifetimes.

The owners of radio are where they want to be and will admit no wrong. There are always disposable human beings when the going gets tough and corporate can't bring in her budgets. YOU will be damaged goods for the 14% devaluation!

KEEP YOUR EYE PEELED ON THE TREND TO GO PRIVATE.
