MORE CHANGES AT K-VET

KVET-FM has hired veteran air personality Chris Bender for mornings beginning May 2. He joins Bob Cole and Jamie Ivey. Bender previously worked in mornings at Country KBUL-FM/Reno, NV.

well since kvet is doing "good" with these changes. im glad kcti still plays the classics!

Bob Cole introduced Chris Bender as "a gentlemen from Clear Channel" nothing about Bob's new partner or the usual fanfare of a "new, improved" morning show. Sounds more-and-more like Cole is on his way out.

That's probably a good thing. It's obvious that Cole can't do the show he wants to.

Maybe he'll move on to The big talker, KLBJ or something.

whats more obvious is that the "show cole wants to do" gets no ratings. his audience is too old. and he is boring and doesnt translate to PPM.

"The Show Cole Wants To Do" might have resembled the one where he had a well-known personality sidekick, a talent sports anchor, a skilled traffic anchor, a real newsman, a top-flight meteorologist and a manager who understood how it could work. When all those elements were in place, the KVET Morning Call-In Show had a 13.7 (12+) and DOMINANT ratings in key demos and qualitative groups.
What have YOU ever accomplished, Dallasboyz?

Agreed.

Now....who's going to make that kind of investment in local radio today? CC has shown that it has no desire for such a product and it seems to have more money than anyone else.

Frankly, in my best of all possible worlds, that tired old thing in the mornings over at KLBJ AM would be replaced. But it seems there are still people who listen to it.

Perhaps Ward could use a little competition during drive time. Yea...let's put Cole on the Big Talker, get Troy to do the weather, hire one of KLBJ's female right-wingers as a sidekick, put on some Jim Hightower commentaries (just to annoy everyone) and get someone to produce the hell out of it.

Oh yea, and this is the toughie....stick with it for nine months, and give it some promotional support and visibility in the community! After all, if Cole's going to skip, people need to know where he skipped to!

That's a big...some might say impossible...order. But it could really shake up this market and might even last.

Then again... There is always small town radio to listen to...

In Travis or Williamson County? Do you have any recommendations? I thought they had all moved into Austin! ;D

Sorry you'd half to DX them ;) KDRP, KCTI, even KYKM sometimes if I am lucky

Yep, both stations are pretty decent. I can't get KCTI at night but I can stream to them, KDRP I can now get 100.1.

And of course for my dance music is all online ;)

BobFM HD-2 is good for dance on the radio.
