More Clearchannel cuts?

tom was replaced by michael kelly....(Yes, he was, after being put through a living hell and forced out)...and the pd left because of a family health crisis...(that would be wrong! did you not read his reply on the ohio media blog?)

ya know..things are bad enough this time of year for cc employees without all the b.s. and speculation...(I hear that 2 women were let go a few weeks back. The reason was budget cuts!)

They just can't seem to keep people in Akron. I wonder why?

my belief is that the bigger markets going with the new PPM arbitron ratings will be the markets with the biggest cuts.......there's no exception for that extra expense.......

interesting how you don't see that at CBS......they figure out a way to work it out.....

again....just my humble opinion

CC fires airstaff, sucks communities dry of money, yet continue to hire sales staff to try to sell their soon to be "giant ipods attached to transmitters".

Actually, CBS is going through their own round of budget cuts...Tom Ryan out at WOMC Detroit after 23 years.....Randy Friend out as GM in Dallas with another cluster GM assuming his duties.....two GM's out in LA a couple of weeks ago....and it's a format change, but an entire staff at WCKG in Chicago is gone.
This week, it's Entercom's turn, with cuts announced so far in Buffalo and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Not even sales staff are safe in this slump.

Funny(not funny) they're ousting airstaff who put the product on the air & continue to try to hir more sales people to sell shotty product.

CC Cleveland saw two more positions eliminated today...MIX Imaging/Production Director and an assistant Promotion Director at KISS.

Scott Glazer got axed? That's a damn shame. Great voice (also does-or-should-I-say-DID imaging for WCPZ, too).

So, what's left at 106.5 anyway? Anything?

Yes, he did. Daune Robinson and Dawn Fulmer, a promotions asst., too.

They're dumping everything at Mix (minus, maybe, Brian and Joe) in order to sell it off...

Wow! Sucks about Scott and Daune, both I consider friends. Especially D., my Goodtime III drinkin' buddy!

WILL WMVX/MIX 106-5, Where the "V" stands for Variety (LOL!), get spun off??? OR... Will CC spin off WAKS/Akron and put CHR on 106.5??

Kiss to 106.5 makes sense.

Kiss to 106.5 makes sense.

Both scenarios make a ton of sense. But unless Brian & Joe get taken care of (remember, they did move to WMVX from WMMS/100.7 during the infamous "Death of the Buzzard" that was supposed to happen, but never did), that remains a big hole in the theory. If 106.5 assumed WAKS, I highly doubt that they could mesh in that well with their current show (obviously replacing the VT'ed Sean Valentine) but I could be wrong.

However, and this is just MY personal opinion, I still see B & J as a credible successor to Lanigan at WMJI, whenever he retires. Different tastes, yes. But it would keep WMJI from a total free-fall/death spiral should that ever happen. Which I do doubt as CC will likely keep Lanigan for however long he wants to be there.

Or do B & J just walk out the door after all this?

Boil it down to this: WMVX is the lowest point of the CC chain. It's gonna get even lower now that their on-air staff is getting decimated. It has had no program director (yeah, I know WMJI doesn't, either, but they can afford to be on autopilot while WMVX CAN'T) and the only recognizable air talent outside of B & J thanks to these cuts are Jay Hudson and Kat Jackson. And Kat's a regular VT'er on WMJI and WGAR!

Brian & Joe, while ok am talent, can't hold a candle to Lanigan, even at this stage of his career. I've never been a fan of B&J. And if they are so "good", then where are the numbers to back that up?

I will say this... B&J are good writers/producers of bits. But that's it. Ask Gorman. The one thing he regrets his hiring B&J for NexGen Buzzard. They didn't fit.

As a programmer, I see B&J a better fit with the CHR females of a "KISS 1065" than a classic hits WMJI.

WAKS doesn't cover nearly the metro area that 1065 does. I say if WMVX is not sold it will be "KISS 1065".

As for BJ....er... B&J...who knows. Maybe they are better off starting anew elsewhere. One thing about Cleveland radio is that it's incestuous. Same talent recycled station to station over and over. Rarely new (good) blood.

And then there's WMess. It was never a stunt the "Bury the Buzzard" campaign. It was really going to be flipped to "100.7 KISS-FM". I saw the jingle package.

With WMess' numbers the way they have been.... could always become a CHR. It did it once in 1985, it could happen again.

Glaser may be heading to Akron. Great voice guy. Dam* shame about everyone especially 2 days before Thanksgiving. Then you get to be greeted by the Mark Mays Corporate Happy Thanksgiving email message. "CC cares about their employees & wishes you a Happy Thanksgiving. Now security will accompany you as you clean out your desk". Must've just done "eenie meenie miney mo" on names on the payroll that made more than 30 grand a year & made them dissappear. Those 3 lost Cleveland jobs should take care of some of the yact fuel money for the Mays Family Regatta this spring.

Are you sure Daune got the axe? She is on Mix right now and her page on WMVX.com is still up with a blog entry dated yesterday.

Not the Mays' this time around but rather Bain Capital and the other bankers that bought CCU.

Glaser to Akron? As PD of WHLO? Scott has come a long way since his days as Doc Thompson's intern. :p

So..... who's left at Oak Tree doing prod/imaging? TR was let go last year. Glaser this year. I know Miles Hilvco (WMMS) & Bob Coates (WTAM) are there... but who else?

Probably voice tracked ahead before she knew they were gonna screw her again which brings to mind a
question: If Glaser requests it, can he have CC stations using his voice to have it taken off of them?

I honestly think Daune is still there. Her pages on the Mix, WMJI, and My 101.7 pages all still exist with another blog entry from today (Sunday 11/25). Unless they reduced her to a part-time role where she is more than likely still doing all of the work she had been doing in the past.

I notice on her Mix page it now says she is on air 10am-7pm!! Obviously not all, if any, is live. Not a knock to Daune, she's a good talent, but the same jock on for 9 hours on a weekday? That is BAD.
