More Info About The New WLNY

The article states CBS flipped WLNY to HD. Let's see how long it takes the cable companies to pick up the HD feed.

And of course there is the matter of the logo

Also if you try wlnytv.com, you are taken to CBS New York. As for HD, well Cablevision of CT in Norwalk, which has carried WLNY since the mid-90s, has not gone to an HD signal. CVC is the only CT cable system to carry WLNY, but not on 10 (WEDW), but on 15. However, 710 is open on Cablevision for the HD signal while WEDW 49's HD signal is on not only 10, but 722 as well.

Well gone are the days of trying to pick up here in Cos Cob with the antenna what was WLIG-TV 55...public domain cartoons, The Bill Cullen $25,000 Pyramid, the TV-55 Prime Time Movie, and this whenever the announcer said

"This is WLIG-TV Incorporated, Channel 55 Riverhead, New York; The staff and management of WLIG-TV wish you a pleasant good night. Ladies and gentlemen, our national anthem...

With "Wheel of Fortune" and "Jeopardy" off WLNY's schedule, would have been interesting to see if they'd retain them, since both shows are distributed by something called CBS Television Distribution...

Yeh the logo resembles KCAl9 in LA.

Former WPIX general manager Betty Ellen Berlamino will oversee the station. WLNY will air a morning news show from 7-9 AM as well an hourlong newscast at 9 PM. It'll be the first time since WWOR in the 80's that a station in the New York DMA aired a newscast between the hours of 8-10 PM.

I think they should have given the 7-9 or 9-10 newscast to Don Dahler, not Chris Wragge. He is crap. CBS has mistreated Dahler so much. I feel bad for him.

Time Warner Cable of NJ/NY just released their latest legal notice that they're going to add the HD signal for WLNY for systems in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and Mount Vernon. The date they give is June 1 on channel 755.

I bet the other cable and satellite providers will follow suit. CBS is investing so much in this station that they'll probably mandate cable carriage of WLNY-HD as a bundle along with WCBS-HD.

When does CBS start the 9pm newscasts on WLNY? I thought I had heard June but now I can't find the article. I haven't noticed any other changes to the programming yet.

I thought July was going to be the target for WLNY to resume newscasts...

Is this as of June 1? All WLNY programming has been in HD since CBS took over in April.

According to what I read on another forum, CBS is already sending the HD feed to Verizon, and Verizon plans to add WLNY-HD by the end of the month.
