Morning Shake up at WILD!

Pretty funny about Renel...Research showed they lost 100 thousand listeners after they booted her to afternoons...whoops.

Yes - big "oops." I'm not personally a fan of her show, but she's likeable, and clearly has talent and energy. It seems like syndicated shows (like Joyner) consistently fizzle in the Bay Area. You'd think CC and other radio corporations would get the message. Of course, there are always the few that do well, but -with the exception of Stern's old "terrestrial" show - they are more oriented toward Talk Radio (Rush, Dr. Laura, Savage).

As a NY listener of "The Doghouse" i feel bad for this guy. It seems that they fire the Doghouse without really knowing the area ( BAY AREA) and what they really wanted. The "The Doghouse" is still wild and kicking in the NY area and you guys can listen at www.923freefm.com on the internet stream. I hope that you are lucky enough to get them back at 106.9 FreeFM in SF. Well that is life in a shake up, I think people did like Strawberry, but as the night buy. All the best and best wishes to Strawberry and the crew.

A clear channel jock up here in Seattle who works for a Rythmic CHR mentioned his show was going to try syndication down there in San Fran. So that might be your answer as to who will be doing mornings at Wild. The guys name is T-Man and the stations website is kube93.com.

I sure hope not. When I lived in Eastern Washington, the T-Man was syndicated out of Seattle, and it was just plain unlistenable. I hated even hearing the promos they would run for the morning show when I listened to the station in the afternoons. Juvinile, obnoxious, and offensive without being funny.

Radio and Records reporting T-Man will begin Monday Morning on Wild from Seatle as suggested in an earlier response

Its official! Interestingly the Jazzy didn't even get to put in a PD quote!

KYLD Taps The T-Man Show For Wakeups
T-Man, A Face For Radio
CLEAR CHANNEL Top 40/Rhythmic KYLD (WILD 94.9)/SAN FRANCISCO inks "THE T-MAN MORNING SHOW" from sister Top 40/Rhythmic KUBE/SEATTLE, replacing STRAWBERRY IN THE MORNING (NET NEWS 8/29), beginning SEPTEMBER 18th. T-MAN will continue at KUBE, and will fly-jock his way back and forth between KYLD and KUBE.

SVP/Programming MICHAEL MARTIN added, "T-MAN is an incredible talent and I cant wait for the BAY AREA to hear him. More stops on the T-MAN tour? Hmmmmmmm."

President/Market Manager KIM BRYANT said, "The BAY AREA will love THE T-MAN SHOW. There is currently not a show like this in the market that has such a wide appeal. His successful history proves to have young men, women and adults engaged, loyal and wanting more. We are excited to bring such a talent to the BAY AREA and look forward to seeing WILD’s continued growth."

T-MAN said, "Coming to the BAY AREA and working for such a legendary station like WILD 94.9 is truly a dream come true. I can’t wait to get started to show the folks there what they’ve been missing in morning radio."

Of course Jazzy didn't get a quote in....when a corporate decision is forced down your throat you just nod, smile, swallow hard and smile some more.

I predict failure for this show. If T Man was such a huge talent, why has no one ever heard of him? Why is he only in Seattle? (albeit for a few smaller cities he is syndicated to) If someone is that good and has been for that long, why not a bigger market?

Answer: because he won't play well in other cities. You see it all the time with other morning shows. They are huge at home and as soon as they move beyond that they fail. Haven't these suits figured out how radio works yet? There is only ONE Howard Stern...no others are out there and if they had potential to groom one, they would fire it before it had a chance to develop.

The next question is what will CC do when this show tanks?

Also what happens to Strawberry??? Is he still with the station? Will he take his show elsewhere? (he should)

What about Fay? Will she turn up in town somewhere? Energy maybe?

What about Rick their producer/co host (aka sidevoice)? Will he go back to the O & A show?

What about Live105 morning show? Infinity was ready to put T Man at Live until they got outbid by CC...so what will they do at Live105 now?

If I read the trades correctly, Strawberry is back at night, where he had some success. The question is how long his ego will allow him to stay back at nights, after tasting morning stardom.

Scoop.....don't be an idiot. Slow down. Think about it........

1. Why would Clear Channel be thinking about "what if" (the show fails) when they JUST announced a new morning show. Point is, they don't believe it will fail. They believe in the show. They will cross that bridge when they come to it.

2. Strawberry is going back to nights. Been covered already, so why do we need more confirmation on this?

3. Rick won't be returning to O&A. He's a great producer and will get picked up by another show either in town or out. I hear he HATED working at Wild as it was. So good for him if he gets to go.

4. Live 105's morning show? What does Live 105 have to do with anything? They've had their new morning show since January. My buddy is a production director for one of the CBS stations and says that the folks at Live are very happy with the progress of the new show. I only see 12+ numbers, but Live seems to be on the move back up (slow, but still up) and have an equal share today as they had in their final 2 books WITH Stern.

I also agree with the other poster who said, who is T-Man? He's "the man" in Seattle.....but if he's so great why has it taken so long to get him in a real major market? Seattle, and markets that size are MUCH easier nuts to crack than top 5 markets. That's the truth. But, I'm willing to give him a shot. NOTE: I know there will be a slamfest happening at 10:01 to pan the new show, and talk about how bad it is, and how it will fail.......but it's not fair to judge any show in the first 90 days.

I think it is safe to say, even before he starts, his show is destined for failure. Listeners of Wild are so used to local talent. The station lost a lot of listeners when The Doghouse was let go. And whoever was left, may feel insulted once again since they yanked Strawberry off in the mornings.

In a day and age where building an audience is so hard, how is some guy who has had mild success in Seattle come in and just sweep listeners off their feet, or ears, I should say.

What Wild should just do is play music in the morning, because personality driven morning shows will just be compared to their predecessors, and will undoubtedly not live up to before.

I agree with the other post about "Who is T-MAN? There is no way that the local San Jose/Bay Area listeners will connect with someone that is located in Seattle??? I know that I won't....I want to hear what's going down in the Bay, not standard radio babble.

Isn't Wild's target audience the Bay Area, not the Pacific Northwest....let's see how long this lasts. Wild listeners are some down folks, and need to see their radio personalities, because you know the old saying...out of sight --out of mind.

They should've just keep Strawberry on after Fay got fired....LAME!
I'm happy to hear that he's moved to nights, since he's the only radio personaliality at Wild left, with talent.

T-MAN seems like a boot leg Howard Stern and the Bay Area won't go for that....

I give this T Man show 6 months and they will be begging Strawberry to come back to mornings!!

I have not posted in sometime, however it is time to tell the truth. Once this station had the best show on radio and they fired them. Now they are without anything good. The day "The Doghouse" was fired the bay area did not have a station of a show that made them special. Well now that the Doghouse is in NY in the #1 market , they should see that they made one hell of a mistake. With that said, those of us in NY are really happy that they are now in NY. This is for sure the best Radio Show on the planet.

Oh, you haven't? Seems like all I've been reading is you posting about the Doghouse. We get it. You think they're great and SF should have never let them go. Hearing the same opinion over and over from a New Yorker on the San Francisco boards really isn't very interesting.

It is Wild's fault, based on the fact Michael Martin wanted to control the show. The Dog House made himi who he is now. You are dead on that The Dog House did say that they were going to leave the station after their contract was up at the end of 2005. They were still a team player, promoting their concerts and hyping them up. Their last event at the station, Battle of the Big Boys was completely sabotaged by Martin. It was once a charity event, but they ended up jacking the prices up into the $100 range.

But what Wild did do was equivalent to what Vince McMahon did to Bret Hart (sorry to drop a wrestling reference in). They basically found any reason to fire The Dog House, knowing they weren't going to be able to retain them. What was smart on their part was to rebuild basically seven months ahead of schedule. They knew come Jan 2006 there would be no Elvis and JV, so why not start building an audience earlier?

Will they beg for Strawberry to come back? I doubt it. I don't even know why Strawberry would want to stick around. How degrading to be sent from most listened to part of the day to the least listened to part of the day.

Everyone in Clear Channel is just a puppet of Michael Martin anways.

As someone who actually knows of the T-Man show quite well all i will say is you all wil be amazed as to what he'll be bringing to your city.
word in the industry is that this man has turned down offers from newyork and L.A. numerous times because he is from seattle and refuses to leave.
finally a major market couldn't let his talent be wasted on just seattle and is sacrificing locality for top flight talent.
think about it, how often do you see a mid market show piped into a top 5 market...maybe there's something to this show?.....you will see.

He is not local!!!!! plain and simple!! I could see if this is market 50 but come on SF is in the top 5!!!

I didn't hear the dog house too much but when I heard how/why they got fired then I rallied n their side. One thing about Strawberry when I heard their show their prank calls where replayed within the hour....Now thats stupid! with traffic in the bay area getting worse and it taking someone two hors to commute they listen for yjr 2 hours. PLAY NEW BITS!!!

He will bomb in the bay area! The audience is not going to fall for the lie! Location, Location, Location, Local, Local, Local! Live And Local Period!

Tman will fail. The Bay Area likes its shows local. I do think Hoodrat Miguel got a raw deal, being shuffled into the 10-Mid slot. He was making decent strides with his ratings. And why would Wild kill off it's popular Love Zone show?
