MOVin' 92.5/KQMV article in Friday 08-Dec Seattle P-I

Nothing against Mooovin', but, gawd, this thing reads like it was cribbed from a press release. Then she tacked on a quickie opposing view at the end. That's some fine journalism, there, buddy. :p

I didn't find anything bothersome with the article.

There are two things that stood out in the article. First, why the Miami point of view? Yeah the guy is from Miami, but he's thinking in terms of Miami, not in terms conservative, vanilla Seattle.

But I got a good chuckle out of "Marc S. Kaye." I'm sure a lot of former Sandusky folks would have an opinion as to what the "S" stands for.

Great article! MOVIN is THE format that is knockin out of the park and Seattle led the way. The air-staff led by Monti are creating a new more relevent air sound too, something the article missed. The days of KBKS's lame CHR format and gawd awful morning show are gone for 18-34 years olds. MOVIN owns the demo. The days of STAR and WARM owning 25-54 women are over as MOVIN steals the demo and now the aging Kent and Alan show and WARM-AC format are about to head into retirement. Rumor is K@A will wrap it up at the end of this year, joining Mike West in their golden years. It is sad when a show stays on beyond its prime. Many grew up listening to Crow and West, Fisher and West, Kent and Alan, Ichabod, Rivers. Their time has come and gone as MOVIN, JACK and a host of variations on these prime formats come into play in most markets. Real talent like Monti, (not DJ talent like K@A/West/Ichabod/Rivers/Spokane talent like Jackie and Bender) will be the future of radio. When was the last time a format got this much ink! When was the last time a talent like Monti got this much buzz in Seattle.

Change is no longer a comin: IT IS HERE!

Do you only speak hyperbole? Jesus!! You are too much. Surprised your head can squeeze through the station doors each morning. For the moment KQMV has a great format with "Movin", but I'd be careful in putting them in the company of Jack (doesn’t mean jack shit to me). Should we wait another 18 months to see if KQMV continues to move - or should we all let our frequencies go dark now in anticipation of the impending doom that you for tell? I do hope KQMV is thinking 18 months out - better yet 5 years out. Look at the brands and legacies KUBE, KISW, KMPS and KZOK have built buy presenting a quality product. Then consider the tailspin frequencies like 107.7 and 96.5 have been lost in by chasing a trend. For now KQMV is flavor of the moment, but see if they can build on that and really present a lasting product with brand loyalty.

THUD ... THUD .. THUD ....

Wonder if we should maybe

THUD ... THUD ... THUD ....

cut some slack.

THUD ... THUD ... THUD ...

I have SOME concerns that

THUD ... THUD ... THUD ....

listening to TOO MUCH hip-hop

THUD ... THUD ... THUD ....

might cause brain damage.

I think our Sandusky intern, "mamaknowsbest" has been smokin' some good BC bud, if you ask me. Maybe a little too excited about a fairly mediocre sound, but right on with the demo and the timing. I'll give them their due credit on that part. But not right now. The station pretends to be hip and urban, but what we get is goofy and vanilla white. It's music and programming for the white hipsters too afraid or threatened by the real urban sound born from this rediculous mix. Movin' would never fly in Dallas, Miami, Los Angeles, Detroit or Baltimore. But, alas, it works here because we're too afraid to be completely true to the music. It works here because the ladies and older adults are too intimated by KUBE and it's thugs and ho's, so they go to Movin. So Seattle, Portland and Denver will work, the most vanilla white cities in America. So what I'm saying is that this is not serious Rythmic AC. Just a bunch of posers like Ali G who don't know the urban rythmic format. But it will work here. Not that I like it, though.

I'm not in the industry, but even I can see that FMSteve is right. I like Movin and it is a good station for Seattle. White guys 35 and above in Seattle needed a station with a beat and Movin seems to fit.

I wish Mama could contribute more than her "Movin Raw Raw."

That's about the size of it too....The PD jumped ship and the only one there running selector and "programming" stuff is a board op...I mean c'mon....Monti is NOT the future.... TOO MANY CRUTHCES on air !!! Jeeeze her traffic reports are GAWD AWFUL !!! Does ANYBODY AIRCHECK THIS "TALENT" CUZ SHE NEEDS IT !!!! C'MON MSK sheez somebody get this gal on the basics of doing a break !!! And please make sure and edit those damn clicks out of your VOX PRO BREAKS cuz DMAN that's sooooooooooooooo small market sounding !

Love to watch the jealous "boys" post. MOVIN is killing in Seattle, MONTI is the hottest DJ in town and now MOVIN is showing up in research in Portland, just like it did in Seattle.

Sorry gang, the "old radio" sound is gone. I will just let the ratings do the speaking from now on!

I don't think that anyone is jealous first and foremost. 2nd of all when the #'s do come out I'm willing to bet ya Monti's numbers and Movin will be down. Momma you must be on some serious meds or need to be cuz if you think that Monti is the future the future is flipin bleak.....She got more cruthces in her game then a Jerry Lewis Telathon.... man that is some sad stuff right there......Next time I tune I'll be sure and have my barf bag handy cuz theres some pukin going on !!!

i've only heard monti a few times and i don't want to be as harsh as the majority of these posts. for a station that hasn't had jocks for 6-7 months I can see what they're trying to do by giving her as little on-air time as they can...they want to ease her in...with that said, she does have A LOT to work on. other than the usual slip up when it comes to pronouncing names of cities correctly in her traffic reports (which isn't all that easy since the names of our towns are pretty hard) i've heard a few spots of dead air, a few confusing breaks and a few really bad phoners. but hey, she's new to the market, new to the format (who isnt?) and she deserves some time to get the hang of it. If Lisa Adams found her in Atlanta she can't be that aweful...right?

Monti is pretty damn cute though... she definately does it for me;) Maybe that's how she got the gig!

I don't really listen to 92.5, but is the new evening guy on yet? His profile is up on the website.
