2.2 billion EBITDA is great, but what's their expenses? If they were doing all that great, they would not be cutting personal and talent the way they are.
Clear is throwing off tons of cash... the expressed reason for going private was that they are making lots of money, but the market was undervaluing them.

If they were throwing off tons of cash, their stock would not be at around $30. And if they are throwing off tons of cash and the stock is $30, you'd see a lot more volume trading than what you are seeing because the stock would be a deal. And if they were flush with cash, the stock was $30 a share and the volume was through the roof, they would not be laying off people and cutting budgets they way they are because they would have the money to pay for things like new transmitters and studio gear.

That is the whole point. Thanks for making it for me.

The folks at CCU think the company is undervalued and going private is a way of avoiding the current view of radio by Wall Street

And I have "friends" that say otherwise. One is an engineer, two are PDs and another is a former GM.

See how easy it is to make crap up?

Well good for you. You lie. Nice job. And then there is fact which you cannot accept.

Your panties are in a twist. Begs one to ask if you are in love with Dees? Is he your fantasy? Not sure why you see him as a person who walks on water?

Ratings are showing otherwise.

The funny thing is is that he has the capability, but for some reason is taking an easier road. Why is that? Burnt out? Making assumptions about his previous years carrying over? I have no idea, but I do know many have said it's the same old Dees with the same old gags.

Also Business 101 will tell you that a company in the throws of selling and buying will tailor down costs (i.e., talent wages etc) for a more attractive appeal. then there is also the overal radio "condition" of hiring talent for cheaper right now. This is equilavent of what TV news went through 2 decades ago.

Great Scott

Hey KY scott

Don't your boy Ricky own a place back in Kentucky? He should go back there, and stay. His time is over, and the ratings prove it. End of story. Your weak arguements make you look desperate, in the face of fact. Ricky is cooked-finished-complete. Movin is about to be toast soon. You'll see. Emmis needs to stop the bleeding...getting rid of the wound...RICK...will heal the company's ledger.

Move on rick

I'm still amazed that ANY FM station with a full market signal would have ratings that low in LA unless they were playing nothing but wall to wall duck quacking. Emmis has been tolerating this for how long? 2 years? Well this market is crowded and competitive.

Essentially that's what they've been doing for over a year now... pre-packaged loser of a format... not even someone like Seacrest would have been able to make this format workable or tolerable in this market.

Tell us again, kiddo, how long did you have the number one morning show in the number 2 market?

You're right, especially since Emmis has no problem paying off contracts while flipping formats. Not sure what they have in mind or what they may be waiting for.

You'd love that, wouldn't you babe?

Please tell me - was that the best you could come up with?? Oh dear.

Not on your life. You are a person with issues and baggage, clearly someone most run away from. You can't even let a person speak their opinion without attacking them. Tsk, tsk, one might need a life.

Dees' format and gags are old and not revised. Companies and shows cannot survive without changing to new media, environments, and consumer wants. Don't care who you are, change is required.

Then why do you keep responding to me, sweetie?

David, is there still money in 80's radio or have those stations gone away across the country? Just curious...
I am happy to answer that and David can chime in.

Cox has seen some success with that format in some markets. Houston has done OK - and actually been stronger since the inception of PPM. Their Tampa station has done fairly well and Jacksonville also fares ok. Those stations have been on for a decade or so ... there is some longevity.

However, the real answer to that question is that the Adult Hits format (Jack) has really filled (successfully) the 80's hole per say in most markets.

If you look at the playlists of many successful Adult Hits stations, you will see the center of their station - and quite a bit of their music comes from the 80's.

Adult Hits came in and really forced a number of Hot AC's to move more 90's and current-based (such as what KYSR did once Jack came on in L.A.).

Excellent points. One question to ask is when listening to Jack in LA is whether the non-80's songs could have been successfully released in the 80's. It's the sound, and a lot of Jack that is not pure 80's sounds 80's. Maybe that is one of its elements for success.
