MOVIN' has jingles

MOVIN' has jingles now. They are different from the Burns package

Who cares? They aren't using it as an independent jingle. It's just used as part of their long, drawn out, minor league quality imaging. Look at this F**KED UP playlist and flow of music for the 11 PM hour Saturday night to know this station is a total loser:

Baby, Baby, Baby/TLC
SexyBack/Justin Timberlake
Burning Up/Madonna
Move Your Body/Nina Sky
Fame/Irene Cara
Dance & Shout/Shaggy
Boogie Wonderland/Earth, Wind & Fire
Time After Time/
It's My Life/No Doubt
Billy Jean/Michael Jackson
Two Of Hearts/Stacy Q
Jumpin' Jumpin'/Destiny's Child
When Doves Cry/Prince

This shows Burns and Zapoleon have absolutely NO IDEA how to program to 25-44 year old Latinas in Los Angeles.

Emmis is too cheap to ever get this union shop to work correctly. They just won't pay the nearly $50 an hour part-timers would make to fully staff this station.

I heard a promo for Dees at 11:45 PM. It featured Patty Lopez more than Dees. It was LONG and drawn out. POORLY produced, not exciting and without a natural ending (hence the loose board work going into Stacy Q). One of the worst promos I've ever heard in Los Angeles and certainly for Dees.

Dees should save face and resign before Emmis flushes this piece of cr*p down the toilet.

Just looking at the quality of the Movin939.com website is enough to know this station is a total loser. I've seen better websites from stations in small markets like Palm Springs.

And just think Dee's could have made a deal for the morning show on KRTH 101.1 where he wouldn't be a fish out of water as he is now! What a waste of money for Emmis and time for Dee's although he's laughing all the way to the bank but losing decades of respect of his former listeners. Movin is a loser format as the music is covered by many other stations in the market already. Dee's is going after the wrong audience the music is too narrowly focused. Open it up and play "all the hits all the time."

Huh? What's wrong with those songs? Thats the format, isn't it?

All you guys need is David Eduardo to come in and blah blah blah endlessly about how great he is, and how his stations are better than the one you are talking about, and this post will look like EVERY OTHER POST ON THIS BOARD!!! (With an open border, how can Spanish stations NOT win in L.A.?!? Duh.) Bitch about Movin 93.9 all you want, but it's got you guys listening. And judging by your comments, you are listening for hours and hours. I hope Movin 93.9 is a hit, just so you all you whiners can come back and try to convince us how you knew deep down that it would be. Face it, many of you are known for doing that. Finally, instead of bitching about Rick Dees and Movin 93.9, why don't all of you---or even one of you---get off your ass and program a better station, since you seem to know everything. Curiously, NONE of you have done this. Hmmmm, I wonder why?

Well that's easy to answer. Getting a programming job is like winning the lotto, really hard to do, and usually the winner isn't the guy who truly knows what he's doing. But really, talking about Rick Dees and for that matter anyone or any station seems to be what this board is about. But hey, I understand your anger...

Gotta agree with STOPWHINING here.

Although Movin may not suit your tastes....the station seems to be pretty well
setup for the audience its trying to reach (more than any other LA station)....
Obviously adjustments need to made along the way.....but what would any of you do "better"?
I think this might just build nicely over time.

You guys are on crack! Movin is perfectly suited for LA. If you know anything about Jimmy Steal, you know that he is without a doubt one of the smartest PD's in the biz!

I needed a good laugh this afternoon and your post has cracked me up! Jimmy Steal one of the smartest PD's in the biz? No, you are the one on crack. Maybe he is too. All we have to do is see who he has hired and how this station is being executed. POORLY would be giving him too much credit. Hiring that cruise ship entertainer for middays (she sucks) sure was a great decision. How about that Movin939.com website? Or that stick-figure on the tv spot? Or the green logo? Or the sophmoric imaging. Or the MESS of music this station is airing. This station isn't suited for Los Angeles and has NO chance of ever being a winner. No "tweaking" will ever make this station a bigger winner than KDL or Rock With A Beat. This station rates as one of the worst EVER in Los Angeles. Movin is DOA. Start researching the next format, Emmis (if you aren't already).

Replace Jimmy Steal with a PD with REAL CHR experience. One who hasn't spent so many years programming "ghetto" radio and isn't so out of touch with how to program to adults.

I DO have to give Steal SOME credit for bringing KPWR back from the dead in the latest ratings book, but playing the race card as an excuse/reason for flipping KZLA from country to this format still made ZERO sense, given the ethnic mix of the greater LA & Riverside/San Bernardino markets.

Let's see Steal's record...Q102 in Cincy #1. KDMX in Dallas #1. Beat Kiss what about a day and a half after he took over Power. Dude Get your facts straight. What company are you VP of Programming for? Nuff Said!!!!

Jimmy Steal is one of the best adult CHR programmers in America. With that said, what race card?? Moved away from country so that Emmis can play the "race card"....do you know much about the executive staff at Emmis?

Yes...and after all its about the website and logo isnt it?

KPWR was hardly dead. It was off due to Latino's initial and short-lived surge, but Power knew how to deal with that and they recoverd nicely, retaking the #1 position in 18-34. "Dead" is being down in the 1-share range or doing an "Indie" on the market.

Power was "down" to just below a 6 share 18-34, and is now back to nearly an 8 share. the slump lasted only two books, and now they are leading the way again.

As explained elsewhere, the ethnic and immigrant composition of LA showed that country could not even hold the existing shares, let alone grown.

LA stations do not sell advertising in Riverside/San Bernardino. The IE is about the 25th market in the US, and only has one-twentieth the billing of the LA market. No LA station is going to sell $100 spots in Riverside when they can get $1000 or $2000 in LA. In fact, nearly none of the LA station even subscribe to the IE book, so irrelevant is that market to them.

Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo............................

Who actually makes the Movin' 93.9 jingles?

If Jimmy Steal is so "brilliant" explain the ratings for Movin outside of morning drive which ain't doing great either for the money they are paying Dees. This station is the lowest rated major FM in Los Angeles since "Rock With A Beat". It's numbers are just plain pathetic. And it's supposed to be targeting the largest ethnic group in Los Angeles which makes it all the worse.

I don't see Movin doing any tv or billboards as they did back in late summer and early fall. Dees is not promoted correctly on the air (why the hell would you have promos for the midday non-talent as they do at Movin). The local tv stations are IGNORING Rick Dees - after terrific hype at the beginning of his show in September - now that his ratings are near the bottom of Los Angeles radio morning shows. There is no "buzz" for Dees or this station AT ALL in the market.

This station hasn't even come up with a stunt, such as KIIS has done for the last 25 years that it has been a CHR. to put it on the map. Movin needs to go on the trash heap of radio stations that never made it in Los Angeles. It's a poor product and ever more poorly programmed. Get rid of it now.

You should go and look my history of posts on Movin. No, I don't work for a company as cheap as Emmis, thank you. Or a pd that doesn't know how to execute a format correctly either.

I'm born and raised in Los Angeles. I know this radio market and started working in it more than 25 years ago.

Here is a question to you: Point out ONE thing that I have posted about Movin 93.9 that isn't true.

Case closed.

English dominant Hispanic females 25-44 is not the largest ethnic group in LA. Since 61% of LA Hispanics are Spanish dominant, your statement is wrong.

Here's TWO.

1. Emmis is not cheap. They reward talent in all areas of the business. Oh, yes, I have worked for them.
2. You said Movin' was aimed at the "biggest ethnic group in LA." Untrue... and by a long show.

Wanna' keep playing?

Or would you like to talk about the "KFI FM Simulcast" rumor?
