She's doing far better this morning... getting into her groove. And her self-deprecating side (a refreshing change from the comedic ego and pomposity some show hosts use as shtick) has allowed her to turn her perspiration problem into a bit.
I have been an ardent fan and defender of her radio show, but I gotta tell you after watching today, I felt sorry for her.
I like to look at Stephanie, but I think her two 'sidekicks' do not translate well to TV.
As an old Imus' fan, I thought McGuirk and Charles worked great as sidekicks on radio AND TV, but those two twinks she had on today have got to go. They may be better as comic foils or support on radio, but they are just
bad,bad, bad on the tube.
Also, while I understand that her radio show is a different animal, it's time to lose the shortcut, honey. If you want to get it done in the 'bigs' ( and believe it, TV is king) you've got to focus more on the delivery and body language and less on the sound effects. TV is not 'theater of the mind', and it's one of the things Imus got right 10 years ago when he started on MSNBC.
Other then that, I would like to see more of Miller, less of her 'co-horts' , and more interviews with other then the likes of Barney Frank~ let's get some normal politicians in there to get grilled. That's what made Imus so unique~ he would sell out and he also would spank his guests, you never knew where he was going. Miller needs to adapt to fill that chair, but with a little fine tuning, she could be the answer to the Imus question.
