MST Returns This Weekend

So before you sack out Saturday night, make sure your watches and clocks are properly set for the return of Standard time. Unlike Daylight Saving Time (memo to Dumber & Dumbest: it's not Savings time, it's Saving time!), Standard time is observed year 'round here in el Valley del Sol and there's nothing to do. However, if you need any help in figuring whether you spring forward, fall back or do the hookey-pookey, Nurse Czarina Jeff and I'll be manning the Media Hut Hotline. Other trained Standard Time teaching assistants include Oldiesfan, KOOL Listener Hearer Lauren, The Beave, Legend City, Wacky Patti, ASU Jorge, and many others. We want you to practice safe Standard time, in addition to knowing how to cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze. Think of us as caring Middle Eastern mothers of the media!

How will this affect the lamptimer?

Not that any of this matters, in PHX no one runs anyone's show live anymore. :'(

I would also like to extend this greeting out to our friends from the great state of Hawaii and the following United States territories: Puerto Rico, Guam, the Virgin Islands, and America Samoa. Divided, we fall, but united we can defeat the evil that is Daylight Saving Time. Welcome to the KOOL club!

This remains to be seen. It's probably a good thing we don't observe Daylight Saving Time here in Arizona (excluding the Navajo Nation) because that would totally screw up the Lumberyard's lamptimer. It probably would pull a KFNN and sign-on an hour early! That would make those listening in Santa Maria, California on KUHL a little upset when Doug Stephan's Good Day is interrupted by the Scottsdale / Phoenix lamptimer with "Kookie, Kookie Lend Me your Comb!"

At the Media Hut's satellite campus in the 'Tuke, we will of course
be closely monitoring Lumberyard 1440 and KayFuNN 1510 for the
required* monthly on/off and up/down changes starting Sunday
November 1.

Doc--to be totally anal about it (and I am ;)), MST has always
been here the past eight months. We just prefer to refer to it
as "Pacific Time" to lessen confusion with the "real" Mountain
Time Zone during DST.

Legend--good news! Starting Monday, El Rushbo (and Hannity)
will be live for the next four months. Less both their networks'
language delay (built into the feeds) and 55/FYI's I-CRAP delay
(approx. :09) of course. And the Beckster on KT'R-FM won't be
a six-hour rain delay anymore...it'll be a five-hour rain delay. ::)

*: Not sure if "required" is in KFNN's Funk & Wagnalls. ;D

Glad to hear the 'Tuke satellite campus of the Media Hut is in capable hands as Nurse Czarina Jeff and I suspect you'll be quite busy taking calls from the very confused and totally clueless. Figuring out what to do with your clock or watch when Standard Time remains the same year 'round in the Valley takes the insight of a trained Media Hut specialist. All others should not attempt this without professional assistance!

Here's our predictions: Lumberyard 14~Forty will reset the drifting lamptimer to be in compliance...kinda. K-FuNN will power up at least 15 minutes early with what appears to be far in excess of their PSRA...they'll be within' five minutes of power down time at 5:30pm. And at least one Valley station will be playing All Ho-Ho-Ho music this Monday.

From the Buckeye Boyz to all: Happy Standard Time and death to Daylight Saving Time (memo to Dumber and Dumbest: it's not Daylight Savings Time)

Emoticons are back :D :D What's next...Aunt Carlos ??? ???)

Now, how 'bout fixing the marquee crawl?

What a blessing to have discovered that AZ doesn't switch back and forth from Standard to Saving time after we moved here several years ago. The old state where we used to live required resetting two car clocks, stove, microwave, coffee machine, two bedside radios (haven't been used in years), AND a LAMPTIMER in the living room. It faithfully switches on a light at 4:30 each and every afternoon right at the beginning of cocktail time.

We've only lived here for four years so I'd be happy to consult whichever station it is whose lamptimer is malfunctioning.

I love telling friends on the West Coast that we're too stupid to reset all those clocks twice a year here so, we don't!

I do, however, start cocktail time at 3:30 during the summer months. No, wait, that should be 5:30.

Never mind.

Guess you're still trying to figure out whether it's live cocktail time, in-pattern
cocktail time, east coast cable cocktail time, or left coast cable cocktail time. ;)

If your FCC 3rd Phone is endorsed by Ben F Waple, then you're just the man for Gumpdusky. Nurse Czarina Jeff and a cast of hundreds from this board have tried to get the lamptimer fixed at Lumberyard 14~Forty for years. And to think I was able to fix the Nurse Czarina is just 15 minutes

Please consult the link entitled A Day In The Life of A Lamptimer for the continuning saga of the Valley's last daytimer!

Can someone let me know when this thread starts to get even mildly funny or entertaining?

When reply #9 appeared?

I can say with complete certainty that replies 3 and 6 sucked. ;D

Actually, in Arizona, this is all a reference to Daylight Savings and Loan, which was bought by Valley National Bank during the gas crisis of 1973 and thus no longer exists. DSL, as it was known, had only one office, in Los Arcos Mall...
