It’s a mix of Pop, Hip Hop, R&B and Indie. Some videos have a popup box with facts about the song and the video, occasional network bumpers.
In it’s prime, MTVU was very heavy on the Indie and Alternative and Alternative Hip-Hop. Even some 80s and 90s videos would show up on occasions. Had news updates from CBS and later ABC. It had it’s own awards show, it’s own video premieres, etc. It slowly evolved to what it is now in recent years.
They often pull videos from NickMusic (Cleaner edits) identifying them with a (NickMusic Version) next to the title.
All of these networks were created for a new thing called digital cable back in 1999-2000. Almost of them rebranded since.
