Musicradio 1300

So how's KSET these days? It's impossible to keep up with it since there's no website or Facebook page, and I'm out of it's area.
The stream doesn't seem to work anymore, unfortunately.
Knowing C-Dub though I'm sure it's fine.

Facebook page is amstereomusicradio1300.....web site is under construction....stream is offline due to ISP issues at transmitter site..working on it...

Otherwise. studios under construction in downtown BMT...advertisers showing up.....movinbg forward...also looking at a FM signal and AM power increase.....hopefully before summer..

Taking a bit longer than I expected for the new Calls to show up on CDBS, what are they going to be? KKAS?

Don't know the exact call chosen, Liberty, but C-Dub expressed to me that they would be a set that would pay homage to the legendary Musicradio 89 WLS in Chicago. Perhaps he struck a deal with the C2 in Winfield, Kansas, to reuse their set on his AM facility. I just don't know.

I can say, it will not be returning to the original set of KKAS. I asked him the very same thing. Wouldn't be heritage for 1300 anymore, anyhow. Wrong COL to return it to its roots.

Was that the new owner or the old one? According to the filings, KWLS just sold to a guy by the name of Larry Streckline d.b.a. KWLS Radio, LLC. Seems peculiar that he'd have that type of a reputation, after less than a month as owner of the station. Good luck with the new Double L S, C-Dub. Hope it all works out for you. :D

I like the KLLS, K Double L S. Almost sounds like the ones you wanted, but that was the point.

Larry has been the owner for years..probably a Corp name change for tax purposes...

That's right, it was an adult contemporary station designed after KVIL in Dallas. The were Class FM and would say "San Antonio spells class K-L-L-S".

I seem to remember the switch of AC Class 100 to country was a rather shocking format change at the time. Seems like it had been #1 in the market, both 12+ and 25-54, within the year before the flip. Going against KBUC seemed like suicide at the time, but the format change, obviously, went very well. KBUC was run out of the format 3 or 4 years later, and Y 100 FM achieved #1 ratings and by a larger margin than Class 100 ever did for roughly 8 years straight.

Just an update. The Harris PA modules and the Cquam exciter are both back! I need to check the tower ATUs to make sure there's no damage with them. The new Musicradio Double L S will return to the air next week in full AM stereo if all goes well..
