I've heard this jingle, and many other vintage WLS jingles before on 94.7. When we have the local feed (Brown, Biondi, etc.), they tag the station as WLS. When Shannon is on the air he still tags it as The True Oldies Channel, which makes me sick to my stomach!vforest76 said:I just heard the "Musicradio -W L S" jingle of old on Greg Brown's show. I wonder if the "Chicago's True Oldies Channel" moniker and Scott Shannon are on their way out!![]()

the show. I think the music variety is great, and Danny is a great host. He also plays the jingles a lot
more often than I hear the rest of the time(even though that is improving as well). I think the station
sounds and feels much more like a Chicago station than it did before the call letter change.
I know a lot of people don't care for Scott Shannon, but, he is getting great ratings and not costing
them any money in middays or overnights so I don't see him going anywhere. I would rather see
someone local as well, but, strictly from a business standpoint it would not make sense for Citadel,
being in the financial condition that they are in to replace him.
I also want to say I am in my mid 30's and I listen to the station quite often. I only write that because
it has been said that oldies is a "geezer" format, yet if you look at the PPM's WLS-FM is doing great
in the overall ratings which is often discounted, but, they are also doing extremely well in 25-54(8th place) as
well as the 18-34(10th place). They are beating stations such as Q101 that targets 18-34 males. So much for
the oldies is an "unsellable" format argument. At least in Chicago.
Thanks for the compliment Bob! WLS-FM does stream live, here is a link to their website.Bob Oshea said:TR1992 said:I have been listening to Danny Lake's Saturday Night Party on WLS-FM and I have to say I really enjoy

Hey Bro-
You and some other very smart people are hip to everything you posted. You are either very observant as a listener or in the biz. Either way, amen to everything you've pointed out. A question my friend.....does 'LS FM stream live? I guess I could answer that one myself by just pulling up the station on the web.
Hello to Chicago,
Bob O'Shea
It could be better, but this is a good start.JoeyC said:It was wonderful to hear two nights in a row of great, fun radio and VERY Chicago sounding which is a treat. The amazing Dick Biondi on Friday night and with Danny Lake on Saturday nights with the request party. WLS 94.7 sounds great and really stands out from other stations.
I agree they should because you don't hear that music enough, even though Scott Shannon preaches that he's keeping that music alive. Biondi's show has a sound different from the rest of the station, which is good.radioman148 said:I do agree that Dick Biondi is great as he always has been.
I sure wish they'd let him play more 50s & 60s music like he did when he first came to 94.7
Arbitorn said:It's hard to argue with success, but I prefer WLS-FM when it's live to the canned Shannon. Too bad they wouldn't invest in some local talent to play Shannon's format (good rotations of a decent variety of music) and drop the "True-Oldies" positioners for the ones we remember on a great radio station.
