CJMI "My FM" is now on the air at 105.7 FM, in the testing stage. Although the station was (supposedly) not supposed to reach London, I am receiving a perfect signal in the Byron area of the city's southwest, and I know of at least one person near Fanshawe College in the east end of the city that is also picking up the signal to a degree. There is no interference with CHJX (Grace FM) on 105.9, and 105.9 is not experiencing spillover from CJMI either.
The music is awful though. I've never listened to the other My FM stations in Eastern Ontario, but the station is playing the usual modern noise that everyone else is already playing. Sarnia's CHOK has switched from oldies to country in the last two weeks, and I doubt it's a coincidence, since their AM 1070 signal is strong in Strathroy and there's already another oldies signal available there, CFCO 630 from Chatham. CJMI is going to have a big uphill battle to gain an audience.
On that note, I wonder how CIHR "Heart FM" in Woodstock is doing up against The Hawk, CKOT, and the London and Kitchener stations.
