My Review of "Eye on Rochester!" The worst show ever, but fun to watch!

I came home later last night and decided to check out some news on TV. While searching for CNN, I came across this really cheesy show on WBGT-TV (18). It was a really really really bad infomercial for local businesses called "Eye on Rochester."

I can't stress this enough, it was really bad! First off, the show is show on what looks to be an un-white balanced home video camera. The supers and editing are very old-fashioned. The "hosts" are 18 year old girls straight out of high school, who are supposed to be sexy, but instead just come off as well...18 year old girls trying to be sexy. And of course, Rick, the guy from "Life Without Shame" is on the show as well. He goes overboard trying to be funny, but it's his terrible overacting that is priceless. Basically the plot is that these "hot chicks" visit all of the "finest businesses" in Rochester (Apparently, pawn shop and car washes are some of the finest business, but I digress). Anyway, it's a blantant one-hour infomercial.

But even more funny, was the overall horrendous acting on the show. Each of the aforementioned cast is pretty bad in front of the camera, and clearly it shows. There are many awkward moments and really really terrible skits that are so bad, they make you laugh out loud.

So in conclusion, I would reccomend that people set their DVR's to tape "Eye on Rochester." It is produced poorly, the acting is bad, and it is sometimes hard to watch, but if you like "B-Movies" (or in this case Z-Movies), you must check this out! While it very well may be "the worst show ever on television," you will never have more fun laughing at what a bad show it is!

Could they deliberately be trying to do the show as "camp" to increase the entertainment value of the show and get people to watch??

Face it, nobody wants to watch a "plain" infomercial. But by "Eye On Rochester" trying to make it entertaining, people might watch.

Perhaps some of what they do, such as Castellano's ridiculous acting skills, could be done as "camp." But the majority of the show is really really bad. I encourage anyone to set their DVR's/VCR's to record this program late at night on WBGT-TV!

I knew about "Eye on Rochester" before it made its way to the airwaves. Believe it or not, my sister was involved in the production of the show at one point. She has had no previous experience in TV. The producer of the show, Ed Richter (who also did "Life Without Shame") had hired her to be one of the models to show off area businesses. Ed's other credits include playing a dead body on NBC's "Law and Order" and doing skits with Jerry Springer. My sister spent a few days shooting these lame ads which quite frankly were embarassing. I told her right off the bat that this was stupid and she was only making a fool out of herself. It wasn't long before she realized this so-called TV show was far from "family oriented" (which was a part of the job description). She pulled out of it and was never paid. To make things worse Eye On Rochester still used her on-air (and still does). Note to others: don't sign a release form until after you get your check.

This show is like you said, a one hour infomercial. It is also a very sleazy way to exploit young females who think they can be cool by being on TV. Most of the models on the show are 18 years old or slightly above; naive high school/college girls. I do not enjoy the fact that the show uses minors (those under 21 years of age) to advertise hard liquor. Hell, I do not enjoy the fact that the show even exists in the first place.

WBGT should pull the plug on this show. Smaller businesses/sponsors probably advertise on this show because it is dirt cheap to do so. I don't think anyone watches UPN in the first place, let alone at 1:00AM on a late Friday. <P ID="signature">______________
