whitfm said:Hey thanks again Stephanie! I have not had much time to play recently with our ONE, other than to try the Country preset, adjusted the Hi band Mixer control from -0.5 to 0.0, and I dialed out all the Phat Bass. Clipper Silk is set to 9. Still messing with it though...this thing is capable of a lot more than I can put into it right now. Nice thing is the standard presets are nice. Probably in a few months we'll have some of the folks on this board coming out with lots of their own custom presets for just about any kind of sound you'd ever want.
Alan Fletcher said:Whit, have you checked out the 'Processing Clips' thread? Tons of really great info there (as well as all the clips), if you have time to read through the 1000+ posts there.
Best of luck with your OmniaOne! It's a great box

whitfm said:Still trying to figure out the whole deal with the Phat Bass. I've been an Optimod guy for so long that it's hard for me NOT to think in terms of EQ being so important in every preset. You're the second person who suggested dialing the Clipper Silk down to around 6...hopefully it will open things up a little bit on the high end as it is not very bright right now (although the super-high end, in the SSS range, is much more well-defined than with our previous processor).
Thanks as always folks and happy processing!
stace said:I would try a faster release time on the presence limiter, and if thats not enough, drive the high band a little harder in the mixer. But be carefull to listen to the result on a lot of material here, especially cold voice. Too much and you'll hear it start to break up in the 'sssss' region as you're simply driving more highs into the clipper, but you can add some brilliance without squashing.
stace said:The 8500s are up and running on More FM (Hot AC) and The Breeze (Easy). They're not being pushed hard, infact I haven't even touched them, both are running factory presets at the moment, and they sound fantastic. Voice is super smooth! I love the way Orban puts that lovely tail on the high end stuff, and seems to glide over transients as opposed to clipping them. We have no mic processing and it doesn't need it. The talent using the Unity did initally squeel about the latency, but they'll get over it, no objections from the talent that we're using the 8200.
I haven't heard the cosmic preset on the Omnia One, is it quite aggressive? When you say vocals are harsh, are the 'ssss' distorting? Or does it sound like midrange grunge?
whitfm said:The trouble with Cosmic on the One is midrange grunge on live voice. Although I wouldn't necessarily characterize the Cosmic preset as "aggressive", it just sounds like it's got a different AGC ratio than the other 6 presets in the box.
